Physical Therapy Technician
Major Responsibilities: Customer Satisfaction:     1)Provide all customers with appropriate services to meet their needs to assist the team in achieving success in their customer satisfaction strategies. a. Immediately resolves customer issues/concerns. b. Provides input into the department’s customer satisfaction initiatives. c. Participates in implementation of customer satisfaction strategies. d. Assists in maintaining and developing existing and new customer relationships e.g., patients, significant others, and Associates. e. Provides transportation for patients as needed. Quality: Provides high quality care as assigned by physical medicine staff.     1)Ensures care is within established methods and procedures. a. Prepares patients for treatments. b. Set up and administer modality treatments under physical therapists direction. c. Provide patients with necessary equipment for mat exercises. d. Provides guidance with treatments such as gait training, with assistive devices as directed by therapist.     2)Ensures department cleanliness is maintained. a. Orders supplies for department. b. Routine cleaning of all equipment. c. Disposing of soiled linen. d. Maintains order of storage areas.     3)Assists Secretary with patient scheduling, telephone answering, computer charging and documentation. People Growth: Responsible for self development.     1)Assesses own learning needs, seeks appropriate training and development. Sets own objectives and goals.     2)Maintains and supports Accrediting Organization requirements in regards to competencies. (i.e., CPR certification, safety and infection control, current licensure hospital/unit based certification standards).     3)Demonstrates appropriate skills for clinical competency.     4)Participates in the team Performance Pathway evaluation process.     5)Orient and train new Associates.     6)Participates in hospital committees, DIG’s etc. Organizational Climate: Participates in an environment within the Department that supports management philosophy, Trinity Hospital strategic plans and Advocate Healthcare strategies.     1)Fosters an environment where Trinity values can flourish: Compassion - We care for the whole person. Innovation: Contributes to the department and hospital innovation efforts to maximize excellence and build respect for services.     1)Submits improvement ideas for Trinity Hospital, its services, and participates in the implementation process as appropriate.     2)Identifies improvement ideas within scope of responsibility, and assumes accountability for implementation and communication of plans and results.     3)Participates in department innovation opportunities and strategies.     4)Utilizes creative measures to optimize customer satisfaction. Productivity: Participates in implementing improvements to department productivity.     1)Provides input in strategies that enhances one’s skill level and increase the productivity of the department.     2)Participates in collecting and analyzing department productivity data.     3)Suggests productivity improvement ideas.     4)Flexible in meeting the staffing requirements of the department.     5)Demonstrates willingness and aptitude to assimilate new roles and tasks of practice. Economics: Contributes to cost containment and business growth initiatives of the department.     1)Assist supervisor with unit staffing requirements.     2)Responsible for efficient utilization of all resources within scope of practice     3)Manages inventory needs/adjustments and communicates such to supervisor/ supervisor.     4)Participates in cost containment strategies.

Education/Experience Required:• High School Diploma or equivalent • CPR certified

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:• Customer Focus Skills • Strong interpersonal communication skills; good listener. • Able to follow treatment plans. • Basic medical/therapy language understanding N/A

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to work weekends. • Must be flexible in staffing needs due to census and acuity of patients. • Work hours vary according to unit needs. •Very Heavy Lifting: Up to 100 pounds occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly. This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e., understand child growth and development, normal aging; prior experience with variances age group is preferred. This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08/01/2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
