Physician Assistant - Child Protection Team - Daytona Apply now (https://secure.dc4.pageuppeople.com/apply/674/gateway/default.aspx?c=apply&lJobID=534275&lJobSourceTypeID=796&sLanguage=en-us) Job no: 534275 Work type: Staff Full-Time Location: Volusia Categories: Medicine/Physicians Department: 30090000 - JX-PEDIATRICS-JACKSONVILLE Classification Title: Physician Assistant Job Description: + Reviews daily abuse reports to the Florida Hotline to determine the mandatory referrals for the Department of Children and Families to consult with CPT, per state statute. + Determines situations requiring a medical examination or further testing/ hospital services/record reviews and in conjunction with supervisors and medical director. + Takes patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the data in the patient’s record; write progress notes and narrative discharge summaries; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings. + Provides diagnostic evaluations and medical consultations regarding abused and neglected children under the direction of the Medical Director. + Performs physical examinations and/or diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as well as orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests. + Works in conjunction with the Registered Nurse in satellite offices (via Telemedicine) as the medical provider on record. Will assist with providing services to children within their residential county vs. traveling to Jacksonville if it is determined to be the appropriate medical service for the child + Prepares medical reports + Consults with Case Coordinators, Program Coordinators and participate in Case Reviews and Team Staffings. + Refers child(ren) exhibiting abnormal findings for additional physician evaluation. + Formulates comprehensive health management plans for patients in collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, and other medical professionals. + Orders & performs medical and clinical tests on clients as appropriate; interprets results and communicates with clients. + Prescribes and/or recommends medications and treatments to patients. + Provides physician and pharmacist referrals to patients in need of further medical care and services. + Provides depositions and court testimony as required. + Provides education and instruction to residents and students. + Contributes to the development, implementation, and expansion of programs and initiatives + Participates in meetings, functions, events, and committees, as well as in a team of interdisciplinary health care providers. + Maintains inventory and ordering of medical supplies, assists with recertification of clinic licensing and applications for medical supplies. + Assists with and Presents trainings in the community (Family Support Services, Department of Children and Families, law enforcement, schools, & community organizations), with professional staff (nursing students, residents, medical students, visiting physicians & guests), and with new organizational personnel. + Assists with the annual Conference on Child Maltreatment, held annually hosted by the UF First Coast CPT with co-sponsorship by UF Dept. of Pediatrics, Department of Health, and the Monique Burr Foundation. + Participates on the CPT Statewide quality assurance team: Participates with Medical Record Review, Video Conferencing and training for 1 to 2 CPT Site Visits to Teams outside of Jacksonville as a medical reviewer. Follow up is required with training & recommendations to establish consistency across Florida in conducting and recording medical information in the CPT electronic medical record (currently being beta tested). + Completes research and publications as directed by the Chief of the Division of Child Protection and Forensic Pediatrics. + Maintains a knowledge base in the field of child abuse and neglect utilizing current literature, research, and directives from the Medical Director and Division Chief. + Under the direction of the Chief for the Division of Child Protection and Forensic Pediatrics, this position will mentor professionals rotating through the Division, participating in the elective rotation including Fellows, Residents, Students and newly hired CPT personnel. Expected Salary: $98,000 to $105,000 annually depending on education and experience. Minimum Requirements: Graduation from a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Licensed as a Physician Assistant in accordance with Chapter 458, Florida Statutes. Preferred Qualifications: + Four years of relevant experience. + Experience in pediatrics, sexual and physical abuse. + Level II background screening.
