Summary This position is may be eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment Responsibilities VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Duties: Admission, history and physical, diagnostic gender-specific examination, discharge, consultation, work-up, diagnosis, authorization to write life sustaining treatment plans and life sustaining treatment orders, including Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) and Do Not Intubate (DNI) orders, management and provision of medical care to outpatients with acute and chronic illnesses. They also include several basic procedures fundamental to the practice of Primary Care: NG tube placement, placement of a bladder catheter, insertion of a peripheral venous catheter, ear wash, and fecal occult blood testing. Suture and/or Closure of simple/superficial lacerations (not involving deep tendons, face); Suture and/or Closure removal and Cryotherapy.Carrying out health promotion and disease prevention activities Initiating and expediting requests for consultations/scheduling special tests and studies Ordering diagnostic studies, such as laboratory tests, Xrays 'and mammograms. Providing education and counseling of patients and families in preventive care, medical conditions, and use of prescribed treatments and drugs.Application of splints for Fractures & Sprains Incision and drainage (not located in rectal area or eyelid) Mechanical Remove / Extraction from Ear & Nose. Removal of Foreign bodies (including vagina, rectum, oral pharynx) Minor Skin Procedures: excision or incisional biopsy with single or multilayer closure of skin lesions. Physician Assistant Basic Requirements Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant ~AND~ Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) (or are you in the process to taking the exam) ~AND~ Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. Physical Requirements: Physical Requirements: The incumbent must be physically and mentally able to efficiently perform the essential functions of the position without hazard to themselves or others. Normal work of the position requires visual acuity (with the ability to read typewritten characters without strain, corrective lenses permitted), keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially moderate levels of lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds). The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders.
