Physician Assistant - IDES

Currently recruiting a Physician Assistant - IDES to provide care to active duty military members and their families at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. The Physician Assistant - IDES is a full-time position, 80 hours per two weeks, schedule can vary. Full benefits, including 17 days paid vacation/sick leave and 11 paid Federal holidays.



DUTIES OF THE PHYSICAN ASSISTANT - IDES:
Meet the core duties as stated within the basic DHA-MQS contract. Review medical records and evaluate patients for disability and retention processing for cohort of patients as directed by the Chief of Aerospace Medicine and/or Chief of Medical Staff. Review medical records and evaluate patients for PCS and deployment waivers for cohort of patients as directed by the Chief of Aerospace Medicine and/or Chief of Medical Staff. Write medical narrative summaries and coordinate processing of disability packages with Medical Standards and Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officers. Write PCS and deployment waivers and coordinate processing with Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officers. Identify unfitting medical problem and facilitate work-up including specialty consultations as required and as directed by the Chief of Aerospace Medicine and/or Chief of Medical Staff. Establish rapport with primary care providers at multiple referring medical treatment facilities and work collaboratively to establish definitive diagnosis, treatment plans. Understand and educate patients on the Integrated Disability Evaluation System. Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement. Attend all Deployment Availability Working Group meetings and provide information requested by the Chief of Aerospace Medicine and/or Chief of Medical Staff. Attend and participate in process improvement activities as directed by the Chief of Aerospace Medicine and/or Chief of Medical Staff. Perform, document, and follow up on military-specific Periodic Health Assessments as directed by the Chief of Aerospace Medicine and/or Chief of Medical Staff.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PHYSICAN ASSISTANT - IDES:
Degree/Education: Be a graduate Physician Assistant qualified by academic and practical education to provide patient services as a physician extender under supervision of a physician. Be a graduate of a Physician Assistant Training Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), or its predecessors, and acceptable to the Surgeon General, USAF, is mandatory. Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Committee on Certification Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required. Experience: Have at least 24 months of experience as a Physician Assistant within the last 36 months. Board Certification: Must be in compliance with Exhibit 5 requirements for a Physician Assistant. Licensure/Registration: Must be in compliance with Exhibit 5 requirements for a Physician Assistant.US Citizenship required (for access to government computer systems).BLS for Healthcare Providers
