Details Specialty: Physician Assistant - Cardiac Surgery Subspecialty Interest: Cardiac & Thoracic & Vascular SurgerySchedule: Nights - 3 on and 6 off - (3) 12-hour shifts - 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. followed by (6) shifts off. Rotated amongst a team of 6 APP's covering 2 locations with 1 APP assigned to each location for every 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. shift. Call Schedule: no on-callPractice Detail: The practice consists of six cardiac surgery surgeons and twelve APPs. EMR System: Sunrise Facility: Ascension Indianapolis and Ascension Heart Center Location: Indianapolis and Carmel, Indiana

Responsibilities

Ascension Medical Group is looking for a Physician Assistant for our Cardiothoracic Surgery Nocturnist APP team. Incoming APP's would be involved with the post-op management of the Cardiac & Thoracic surgery patients in both the critical care ICU and step down units.  The APP’s on this team are part of a collaborative team model of care consisting of advanced providers and physicians who provide care for post-surgical inpatients.

Position Highlights:

 

Evaluates and treats cardiac & thoracic surgery patients in the immediate pre and post-operative setting and serves as the primary admitting service.

Obtains complete histories and performs pertinent physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings. 

Facilitates the coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services.

 

Responsibilities:

Obtains patient history and performs assessment. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic procedures.Provides and documents direct treatment and management of health conditions.Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and care.
