Introduction :    Aspen Medical has an exciting opportunity for Physicians who specialize in Family Practice to partner with us in providing temporary contracted medical services to Medical Treatment Facilities throughout the United States. Today’s posting will place you at the primary location of the Randolph Clinic, Joint Base San Antonio Texas. Hospital: Randolph Clinic Location:   United States, JBSA Randolph Clinic, San Antonio, Tx.   Minimum Qualifications (Contract PWS 5.2; 5.2.3; 5.2.4; 5.2.6.4.4): + Degree/Education (5.2.4) : Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.). Must have graduated from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education. Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) at the time the degree was obtained (e.g. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. Internship/Residency: Successful completion of an internship and residency program (corresponding to the specialty required in the TO) which has been approved by the 16 Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association. Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting (i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training). For purposes of this requirement, graduate training programs include only those internships, residency, programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below. An internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training an appropriate accrediting body. A residency program in Internal Medicine training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by an appropriate accrediting body. + Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3) : All Certifications required by the publications listed in Part 7 of this PWS + Board Certification: (5.2.6.4.4) : Board certification required. Current board certification by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP) + Experience : As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service- specific credentialing instructions. In addition to all other requirements, experience must include at least 32 hours of patient treatment within the specialty in the last 24 months + Licensure/Registration : + Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine as required in the TO + The CP shall have graduated with a medical degree from an accredited residency in Family Medicine + Continuing Medical Education (CME). The CP shall provide appropriate CME documentation to the COR or designated government representatives within one (1) month after all CME accredited events + License and Certification Verification shall be in accordance with AFI 44- 119, Medical Quality Operation Chapter 4 + The CP shall have and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) + The CP shall perform all primary and annual licensure or certification document verifications. The CP shall maintain these certifications in a current status throughout the life of this contract. Verifications shall be submitted to the Government at least ten (10) working days prior to deadlines for submission of certification/licensure/recertification/renewal of licensure documents + The CP shall confirm that the clinical licenses or certifications have not been suspended or revoked by any healthcare facility, public or private, anywhere in the world. This does not preclude any CP whose licensure or certification, although originally suspended or revoked by a healthcare facility, were subsequently fully reinstated by the same Healthcare professionals who fail to maintain a license, registration or certification will be removed from independent practice and privileged providers will be placed in abeyance. If time exceeds 30 days of abeyance, the provider will be placed in summary suspension IAW AFI 44 119, paragraph 9.16. until the license, registration or certification is renewed. Issuing agency grace periods are not honored by the AFMS when renewing a license, certification, or registration + Privileging Requirements. The credentials of the CP shall meet the privileging requirements as outlined in the most current version of AFI 44- 119, Medical Quality Operations + The CP shall furnish the MTF Credentialing Office with copies of valid, current, active, unrestricted medical licenses, registrations, education training certificates, and/or certifications in accordance with AFI 44-119, Medical Quality Operations. In addition, copies of board certifications are required, if applicable. The CP shall continuously maintain at least one active licensure or authorizing document from any U.S. jurisdiction throughout the life of this contract. The CP shall be responsible for primary source verifications of all licenses and documents + Applications for privileges shall be screened through the National Practitioners Data Bank (NPDB), Healthcare Integrity and Protection Data Bank (HIPDB) by the CP + The CP shall also screen through The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) at http://exclusions.oig.hhs.gov/ and TRICARE sanction listing at www.tricare.osd.mil/. The listings must be reviewed prior to entering into contract or hiring CP for the position + Professional staff appointments and clinical privileges are specific to the facility and the provider. An Initial Medical Staff appointment will be granted to all newly accessed CP for a period of twelve (12) months. During this period, the CP performance will be under close review by their assigned clinical supervisor for clinical competence as well as for compliance with the facility’s policies, procedures, bylaws, and code of professional conduct. Thereafter, the CP privileges will be reviewed/evaluated for an Active Medical Staff appointment, which is granted for a period of two (2) years Core Duties: + Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF + Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities + Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges + Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and selfcare skills through education and counseling + Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health + Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures and participating in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols + Shall provide outpatient health care to qualifying beneficiaries as scheduled/provided by the Government, as based on AFMS/Acute Care Services standards + Care shall include but not be limited to continuing, comprehensive health maintenance and medical care to entire family regardless of sex, age, or type of problem + May become the primary care manager for a panel of patients. As a PCM, will be the primary person responsible for the management of the health and wellness of his/her assigned patients. Duties include: • Examination of patients, formulation differential diagnostic plans, defines and orders required diagnostic testing + Interpretation of examination findings and test results, and implementation of treatment plans + Determines need for consultation and assists in medical care and treatment provided at the direction of other specialists + Approving/disapproving subspecialty referrals + Answering patient telephone consults with the assistance of clinic staff + Providing primary and secondary preventive maintenance care + All inpatients will be admitted as per the local MTF instructions + Be capable of adequately diagnosing and treating a wide-range of pediatric and adult acute and chronic diseases and injuries including but not limited to conditions of the: Skin                                                                        Pulmonary System Head                                                                Gastrointestinal System Eyes                                                                 Musculoskeletal System Ears                                                                 Genitourinary System Nose                                                                Reproductive System Throat                                                             Lymphatic System Neck                                                                Central Nervous System Cardiovascular System                                   Endocrine System Psychiatric and Behavioral Health + Have sufficient experience to be able to adequately perform medical procedures to include, but not limited to, the following: + BLS + ACLS + PALS + Secure and maintain an adequate airway to include endotracheal intubation + Cardioversion of life threatening arrhythmias + Simple minor surgical procedures: punch biopsies, excision of skin lesions, toenail removal + Simple abscess incision and drainage + Nail trephination + Lumbar puncture + Suture simple laceration + Suture removal + Cryotherapy + Nebulizer treatment + Urine catheterization + Cultures (throat, wound) + Clearing of ears by flush technique + Reduce simple dislocations and fractures, when appropriate + Bandaging of sprains, minor burns, and minor lacerations + Perform venous punctures for lab studies and interpret results + Remove nasal and ear foreign bodies + Clearing of ears by flush technique + Reduce simple dislocations and fractures, when appropriate + Bandaging of sprains, minor burns, and minor lacerations + Perform venous punctures for lab studies and interpret results + Draw arterial blood gases for evaluation and interpret results + Administer intravenous, intramuscular and subcutaneous medications as appropriate + Stabilize and evaluate cervical spine injuries as appropriate + Splint and stabilize traumatic injuries to extremities + Ensure a safe work environment and employee safe work habits + Prepare records and reports as required in support of services rendered in accordance with established procedures i.e. monthly peer reviews. Open encounters must be completed within 72 hours + Attend and participate in patient care reports, patient care conferences, team conferences, professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities only to the extent that such attendance and participation is relative to his/her assigned cases and/or performance of services as determined by the supervisor + Complete appropriate military specific documentation such as (but not limited to) narrative medical for Medical Evaluation Boards (MEBs), convalescent leave and duty limiting conditions (medical profile paperwork and electronic quarters forms + For all initial encounters with a patient, will review and document a thorough history and examination. Subsequent visits need not be as complete, but should document interval changes in history, physical examination, diagnostic studies and plans + Shall provide and document feedback to patient of all abnormal laboratory, radiographic tests as well as physical findings to include vital signs within AFMS and Notification standards Benefits:   + Virtual + cations throughout the United States.   + Contract: Year-long assignment + Hours of Performance: Duty hours will vary by position and location; however, typical duty hours are scheduled between 0700 -1700, Monday through Friday.
