GDIT's Military Health team is hiring a Physician (Family Practice) to serve our nation while caring for service members and their families at military treatment facilities across the country. This position is located in Portsmouth, VA or at a local branch clinic of Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. This position will work 5 days per week, which may include weekends.
At GDIT, you will deliver healthcare expertise and services where they are needed most, while having the support and benefits of working for a large company that understands the mission of the Department of Defense and military medicine.
You will be part of team of professionals that provide comprehensive, high-quality and innovative healthcare to patients of all ages. You will collaborate with medical specialists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and para-professionals. You will utilize the DOD's electronic medical record - MHS GENESIS and have administrative assistance to ensure your times is spent where it is needed most, caring for patients.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF.Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).Education: Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification.Certification: The DoD only recognizes certifications issued by boards that are members of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the AOA Bureau of Osteopathic SpecialistsInternship/Residency/Fellowship: Completion of an accredited residency approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the credentialing instructions.Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine.
