Physician III (24 Hours) - Recovery from Addictions Program
The Physician is responsible for leading, directing, and/or providing all complements of the medical support program at the Recovery from Addictions Program (RAP). The Physician sets and maintains standards required for certification and accreditation; supervises and oversees the multidisciplinary staff; delivers primary medical care and treatment to all clients; reviews and authorizes the utilization of all medical support services; and administers the medical clinic in conformance with the policies and procedures of the treatment program. *Please Note:*The position is 24 hours per week, Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Sunday and Saturday as the days off. This salary reflects Board Certification. _*Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive)*_: * The Physician participates in direct client care, and supervises and consults with other licensed staff providing direct client care. It is expected that the Physician will be engaged in client care related activities as well as managing the business and administration of the medical support functions. * Provide leadership and supervision for all medical staff and medical clinic staff. * Assures that the medical staff schedules provide for continuous medical coverage. * Oversees medical care, diagnosis, management, and referral to appropriate facilities/providers for clients at Recovery from Addictions Program. * Provide consultation to psychiatrists and other clinicians to assure comprehensive and continuous care of clients. * Chairs the Infection Control Committee and supervise all aspects of the infection control program. * Chairs the Emergency Response Review Committee and oversees the Code Blue program. * Oversee provision of emergency services to employees at Recovery from Addictions Program. Coordinate referrals to occupational health follow up as required. * Participate in the procurement and oversight of relevant medical services’ related contracts. * Initiate improvements in clinical care through the review and revision of policies, development of practice guidelines, and disease management protocols. * Develop and monitor Quality Assurance indicators that meet the Joint Commission, CMS, and DMH and DPH requirements and participate in the program performance improvement process. * Provide direct, ongoing medical care to clients on designated units. Provide medical coverage as needed for continuity of care at RAP. Provide urgent/emergency medical care to all staff and clients as needed. * Participates in the RAP leadership through committee work, PSOEC and RAP Executive Committee membership. * Admission history and physical. * Discharge summaries and doctor to doctor contacts as needed. * Assess and conduct all necessary medical procedures pursuant to RAP protocols. * Participate in and develop materials for staff development activities, such as ongoing educational activities for staff and clients. *_About the Recovery from Addictions Program (RAP)_*: The Department of Mental Health (DMH) in collaboration with the Department of Public Health (DPH) Bureau of Substance Addiction Services operates a statewide Recovery from Addictions Program (RAP) for individuals civilly committed by the courts for substance use treatment for up to 90 days (“Section 35 commitment”). The program model will provide acute detoxification and early clinical stabilization services as we help clients develop community-based linkages to outpatient supports and substance use disorder treatment providers. The individuals treated within this program will be linked upon discharge to a range of services within the DPH continuum of care for substance use conditions. RAP provides administrative, medical, clinical, and non-clinical services. Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines.
