Our hospitals, care sites and clinicians are recognized for clinical and operational excellence. **_Physician Office Secretary - Lagrange Primary Care - Mercy Health_** **THIS IS A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT POSITION** **Shift/Schedule** + Full Time, Scheduled for 40 hours per week + Shift Times: 7:45am-4:15pm, Monday-Friday **General Summary** Greets, instructs, directs, and schedules patients and visitors. Serves as liaison between patient and medical support staff. Promotes a positive climate for good interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships. **Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities** + Knowledge of medical office procedures, grammar, spelling in order to type or write patient information. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Medical Terminology required. Knowledge of and experience with electronic medical records strongly preferred. + Skill in using a computer, fax machine, photocopier, postage machine and calculator. Greeting patients and answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, patients, organizations, public and superiors. + Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction as well as specific medical instruction and medical terminology. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Clearly communicate in written form and verbally with patients, clerical, administrative staff and the public. + High School Diploma or GED with approximately two to three years experience in a health care medical practice and or certificate from a credentialed medical program is desirable in order to fully develop skills and become knowledgeable about departmental and organizational procedures. **Working Conditions** + Work is performed in a normal work environment with little exposure to noise, dust, temperature and the like. + Office environment requires both desk and counter work. Involves contact with employee, administration, patients and public with occasional exposure (less than 20%) to communicable or infectious diseases from patients. + Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail 80% or more of the work time. + Moderate level of physical effort exerted 50 % or more of the work time. + Ability to stand, bend and walk 80% or more of the work time. + Ability to travel between clinics.
