JOB AD:  Physician – Pain Management Introduction :    Aspen Medical has an exciting opportunity for Physicians who specialize in Pain Management to partner with us in providing temporary contracted medical services to Medical Treatment Facilities throughout the United States. Today’s posting will place you at the primary location of Evans Army Community Hospital at Fort Carson, Colorado. Hospital: Evans Army Community Hospital Location:   United States, Fort Collins, Colorado   Minimum Qualifications: + Degree/Education (5.2.4) : Physician, Pain Management shall have a Doctor of Osteopathy, or a Doctor of Medicine from a university approved by the Council in Medical Education of the American Medical Association + Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3) : Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3): Shall have and maintain current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) + Board Certification: (5.2.6.4.4) : Shall be board certified/board eligible in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and/or Anesthesiology as determined by the American Board of Anesthesiology or appropriate medical board + Experience : Shall be fellowship trained or have a minimum of two years interventional pain management experience. The contract Pain Management Physician shall have sufficient education and experience to perform the tasks and procedures listed in this contract (see Paragraph 5, Specific Tasks) + Licensure/Registration : Shall have an unrestricted license in one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands and be able to obtain clinical privileges to practice medicine at the MTF where services are provided Core Duties: The Pain Management Physician shall perform all procedures and duties that are normal to the scope of that provider’s particular specialty and for which privileges are granted by the MTF. These are essentially the same duties as those required of any Medical Corps Officer or Government Civil Service personnel of similar experience and similar duty assignments. Specific tasks shall include, but are not limited to: • Perform routine pain evaluations on patients and contemporary interventional pain procedures commensurate with the support capabilities of the hospital and in accordance with community standard of care • Administer appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic interventional pain procedures in the treatment of acute and chronic pain through the use of medications, nerve blocks, electrical stimulation or other therapies • Provide consultation in the inpatient and outpatient settings regarding the treatment of chronic pain patients • Examines patients to determine discomfort level and cause of pain • Recommends tests to determine extent of pain, help diagnose condition, or manage pain • The HCP shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established standards of the MTF to include but not limited to timeliness, legibility, accuracy, content and signature; completion of all required reports, records, and quality assurance reviews. Only MTF and Army approved abbreviations may be used for documentation of care in the health care record • The HCP shall participate in designated Anesthesia Service training activities to include in-services during regular duty hours • Shall become knowledgeable with the hospital formulary. Shall prescribe pharmaceuticals according to the availability of drugs listed therein. The pharmacy service will provide instructions to all prescribing practitioners on substitutability of generic drugs for prescribed drugs. Drugs not on the formulary or approved the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee will not be utilized unless a new drug request is submitted and approved. The HCP shall use computer order entry to order prescriptions, or use prescription forms DD 1289 and MEDDAC Form 105-1 in accordance with local policy • Shall respect and maintain the basic rights of patients, demonstrating concern for personal dignity and human relationships • Participation in MTF Professional Committees during regular duty hours is limited to not serving as voting member and only will participate in the context of relation to health care duties or when there is no other qualified HCW • Shall advise the COR of any problems encountered in connection with meeting the needs of patients, including problems with EACH personnel. • Take part in hospital Quality Assurance Programs as required to meet the standards of the Joint Commission • Attend and participate in patient care reports, patient care conferences, team conferences, professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities only to the extent that such attendance and participation is relative to his/her assigned cases and/or performance of contract services as determined by the COR • Adhere to the Center for Disease Control guidelines concerning universal precautions and the MTF Infection Control Program • Ensure the highest standard of professional practice and ethics are maintained Benefits:   + Virtual + cations throughout the United States.   + Contract: Year-long assignment + Hours of Performance: Duty hours will vary by position and location; however, typical duty hours are scheduled between 0700 -1700, Monday through Friday.
