Interest and experience in general outpatient neuro-muscular rehabilitation including peripheral joint injections, trigger point injections, diagnostic ultrasound guided injections, electromyography, and botulinum toxin injection. The physician should be able to direct coordinated referral for Physical and Occupational therapy, Chiropractic care, and complimentary and alternative treatment modalities. Specialized areas of inpatient rehabilitation, TBI clinic, and pain management are available based on interests and expertise. Specialty training, fellowship completion, or additional board certifications are desired. Incumbent should possess excellent general physiatrist evaluation and management skills as well to be a strong partner to the other 10 physiatrists in our practice group. Duties include but are not limited to: Develops and implements complex, goal-oriented treatment plans for patients in need of interdisciplinary rehabilitation. Provides comprehensive evaluation and management of spasticity including both medication management, botulism toxin injection, intrathecal baclofen pump evaluation and management, etc. Provide peripheral joint injections and other intramuscular injections as indicated to facilitate the rehabilitation process, including diagnostic ultrasound guided care Effectively evaluate patients with history of recent and remote concussive injuries and provide treatment for common manifestations of Post Concussive Syndrome such as headache and insomnia. Write sound prescriptions for required adaptive equipment including both manual and powered mobility, prosthetic limbs, and other necessary rehabilitative equipment. Effectively provides diagnostic evaluation, examination, and interdisciplinary treatment planning to meet general musculoskeletal rehabilitative needs of Veterans Serves as occasional back up to the medical and administrative leader of the inpatient rehabilitation team participating in continued readiness for our continued Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) as well as ongoing monitoring of outcome trends including length of stay, functional outcomes, and efficiencies of obtaining functional goals. Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), b) OR [(2) Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA),OR (3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States), which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiences. Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged; rather, they are to have a "scope of practice" that allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision. Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Preferred Experience: Board Certified/Board Eligible.
