For more information, please visit the following link: https://www.usajobs.gov/Help/working-in-government/benefits/ **Responsibilities** + Serves as a Physician (Psychiatry) in a Medical Treatment Facility, responsible for providing examinations, diagnoses, treatment of diseases affecting mental health. + Serves as a recognized technical authority in the delivery of Psychiatric medical care to a wide demographic and large variety of psychiatric patient presentations, symptoms, conditions, and complexities. + Provides appropriate referrals to other medical and mental health care providers in and outside of MTF. + Conducts thorough biopsychosocial evaluations of presenting patients, including but not limited to integration of laboratory, radiological, EKG, psychological testing, and clinical findings. + Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment. + Develops treatment and rehabilitation plans and provides appropriate therapeutic treatment services. + Research activities may involve the development, testing or evaluation of innovative therapies. + Participates in Quality Assurance (QA) functions, performance improvement programs, risk management programs, and peer review programs **Conditions of Employment:** + This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS. + Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges. + Position requires a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia,the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States **Qualifications** **US Citizenship required** **Licensure** : Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. **Graduate Training:** Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. **In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:** **Residency Training for GP-14 Position:** Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled (Psychiatry) and equivalent experience and training equal to at least 4 years. Experience may not be substituted for residency training that is required for the specialty identified. **If you are selected for a Physician position:** A salary quote will not be provided to you at the time of the initial job offer. The salary determination process begins after the initial job offer is accepted.
