Job Title: Physician (MD/DO)

Setting: State Hospital

Location: Clarks Summit, PA

About the Role:

Key Responsibilities:

·        Responsible for patient care thatincludes examination, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of medical illnessesfor adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatient population.

·        Serves as medical consultant to theattending psychiatrist/practitioner.

·        Completes admission medicalassessments (including history and physical examinations, mental statusexamination) and entering admission orders.

·        Orders diagnostic/therapeutic testsand procedures.

·        Monitors patients’ progress,including laboratory values and special procedures with appropriate follow-upor referrals as needed.

·        Collaborates with attendingpsychiatric practitioner if needed providing DSM-5 Diagnoses that are valid,complete, and supported by timely and appropriate assessment.

·        Provides coverage to the medicalclinic, the admission suit to ensure the admission process is completed.

·        Prescribes medications at the lowesteffective dose in accordance with rational clinical practices.  Assessesand address medication side-effects and report adverse drug reactions.

 

Qualifications:

Licensure: PA Physician (MD/DO) Licensure Certifications: DEA Experience: 1 year in a relevant field preferred

Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 8am to 430pm on-call or callback duties (optional).
