Job Title: Physician (MD/DO) Setting: State Hospital Location: Clarks Summit, PA Job Type: Locums Start Date: IMMEDIATE OPENING About the Role: Key Responsibilities: · Responsible for patient care that includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of medical illnesses for adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatient population. · Serves as medical consultant to the attending psychiatrist/practitioner. · Completes admission medical assessments (including history and physical examinations, mental status examination) and entering admission orders. · Orders diagnostic/therapeutic tests and procedures. · Monitors patients’ progress, including laboratory values and special procedures with appropriate follow-up or referrals as needed. · Collaborates with attending psychiatric practitioner if needed providing DSM-5 Diagnoses that are valid, complete, and supported by timely and appropriate assessment. · Provides coverage to the medical clinic, the admission suit to ensure the admission process is completed. · Prescribes medications at the lowest effective dose in accordance with rational clinical practices. Assesses and address medication side-effects and report adverse drug reactions. Qualifications: + Licensure: PA Physician (MD/DO) Licensure + Certifications: DEA + Experience: 1 year in a relevant field preferred Schedule: + Monday to Friday, 8am to 430pm + on-call or callback duties (optional).
