**Location:** Avera Medical Group Radiation Oncology-Sioux Falls **Worker Type:** Regular **Work Shift:** Primarily days with possible weekends/evenings/holidays (United States of America) **Position Highlights** + This position is based in Sioux Falls, SD. Work where you matter.** **A Brief Overview** Oversees the radiation therapy equipment and acceptance. The Physicist consults with the Radiation Oncologists, Dosimetrists and Physicists concerning patient dose, radiation exposure and safety. The Physicist oversees the radiation quality assurance programs and development. **What you will do** + Performs acceptance testing, calibration, and safety surveys of imaging and radiation therapy equipment. + Develops purchasing and acceptance specification for imaging and radiation therapy equipment. + Consults with the radiologist and radiation oncologist concerning patient dose determinations. + Consults with other physicians and patients regarding radiation exposure and safety. + Teaches and presents continued education programs for appropriate audience. + Develops, implements, and supervises quality control programs. + Researches and develops new devices and modalities for improved diagnostics and therapeutic uses of radiation. + Participates in NRC licensed procedures under direction of an Authorized Medical Physicist. + All of the above duties are performed under the guidance and oversight of a Board Certified Physicist. **Essential Qualifications** The individual must be able to work the hours specified.
