Under the general supervision of the Chair of Radiology and in coordination with Senior physicist, the physicist provides annual quality-control tests for all radiograpy, mammography, fluoroscopy, CT and MRI equipment. Assists in mammography, CT, MRI, accreditation process and perform acceptance testing of new equipment, participates in physics teaching to residents.Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
Performs annual quality control tests for all mammography units in compliance with ACR and MSQA standards, including all Mammo accreditation processes.Performs annual quality control tests for all Radiographic and Fluoroscopic units to meet the state and (JC) standards.Responsible for teaching physics to residents.Supervise the service engineers with routine and minor maintenance of equipment, as needed, in accordance with the manufacturer's stated policies and procedures and documents the same.Provides education to hospital and clinic staff, radiology personnel, residents, medical students and the general public on MRI safety. Provides feedback to residents physicians and technologists for MRI safety and image quality issuesMonitors equipment maintenance and directs appropriate repair and calibration of radiology equipmentReviews the physics, image quality and MRI safety portion of the policy and procedure manualIncorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles , Mission Statement and Goals into daily activities.Complies with all Lahey Clinic Policies.Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.Demonstrates an understanding of the job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment.Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to Customer Service standards.Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Must have a Ph.D. degree in Medical physics or in an allied field such as health physics, nuclear physics or experimental physics
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Certification from American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) in Diagnostic Imaging physics.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Must have functional knowledge of the equipment and its components
Experience: Three years of clinical experience required. Experience received during training may be used to help satisfy this requirement. Related training and experience will be considered.
