Job SummaryWe are currently seeking a physicist. This position is located in Falls Church, VA.
The primary purpose of this position is to conduct high-quality, on-time, and within-budget project work providing scientific, research and technical analysis and consultation directly supporting the Army Force Health Protection.
Perform data analyses regarding blast overpressure sensors, blast wave data, and the Joint Cognitive Monitoring Program data and information. Provide direct support to training events to capture and analyze blast overpressure data, potential health outcomes associated with training events, and develop and analyze after-action reports to facilitate analysis of blast overpressure data to inform potential mitigation actions minimizing health outcomes. Author official reports, talking points, informational papers and coordinate and facilitate, as needed, technical meetings and develop responses for leadership briefs and ensure synchronization across the Joint Force by distributing technical analysis conclusions to the blast overpressure and other pertinent working groups. Conduct research and analysis of Anomalous Health Injury (AHI), directed energy, and health physics to gain an understanding of potential causes of AHI, energy transfer and their health effects. Perform required research and analysis to formulate Army risk mitigation recommendations and initiatives for minimizing potential health outcomes through the development of expert responses for leadership, official reports, talking points, informational papers and documentation related to radioactive material management. Coordinate and facilitate technical meetings, as required.Key Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in physics, health physics, or engineering with 5 years of experience or master’s degree in related field with 2 years of experience or PhD; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.Experience in blast overpressure or other health physics health hazard assessment in an operational, field, or training environment.Successful occupational health and safety or industrial hygiene program management experience.Able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level clearance.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to meet project technical requirements, budgets, and deadlines.Willingness to travel to client locations in the United States on an as-needed basis. (infrequent)Preferred Qualifications At least 4 years of experience in DoD health physics and/or occupational and environmental health surveillance programs. Possess a Secret security clearance
