The Maintenance Technician performs preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems and evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve availability, capability and yield. This role performs equipment failure analyses, troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems, and prepares technical reports to document equipment modifications and equipment maintenance procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Create and implement action plans to ensure the achievement of the maintenance department on a weekly, monthly and annual basisAssist in the development of, as well as deliver, the agreed upon budget area of responsibility which includes: Ordering parts and supplies; Maintaining inventory levels of commonly used parts and supplies; and Assisting with CapEx projectsMaintain record keeping within all software platforms to ensure records are fully updated on a weekly basisEnsure area of responsibility is accomplishing the following: Adherence to the Company’s Safety Program requirements and guidelines; Adhere to biosecurity protocols; Adherence to environmental laws and procedures; Compliance of all company policies, procedures and guidelines; Willingness to change plans as needed; Cleanliness and sanitation of the farm; and Compliance with all environmental laws and proceduresEnsure adherence to the Company’s animal care policies and procedures including: providing a physical environment that meets the animal’s needs, providing access to adequate water and high quality feed, providing humane treatment of the animals, providing identification and appropriate treatment of animals in need of health care and following the guidelines for euthanasiaProvides technical support and guidance to employees and farm managementUses judgment to identify and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problemsEffective communication with teammates and supervisors in order to effectively achieve goals Requirements Limited travel requiredPrevious agriculture or manufacturing facility maintenance requiredStrong commitment to teamworkWillingness to shower daily in and out of facility Ability to follow instructions and deal with standardized situationsWeekend, evening, and holiday work required as neededMust be on call to work in emergency situations to include but not limited to, power outages or personnel shortages Business OverviewGenus strives to provide beef, dairy and pork producers with superior breeding stock to enable the production of affordable and nutritious animal protein for consumers.
