Job Description
The pilot plant operator will assist in a manufacturing environment that produces dog and cat food and treats. This role involves significant cleaning and sanitizing of floors, machines, walls, and components. The operator will aid advanced-level compounder operators with daily operations, including mixing cleaning solutions, sanitizing machines between production runs, and handling raw materials. Additional tasks include weighing and recording sample data, receiving and recording materials, and running samples between the plant and the analytical lab.
ResponsibilitiesAssist advanced-level compounder operators with daily operations.Mix cleaning solutions and sanitize machines between production runs.Handle and process raw materials and ingredients such as whey, protein, corn, flour, liver, chicken, and beef scrap.Weigh and record sample data.Receive inbound materials and record data via computer.Operate a forklift to move incoming pallets (training provided).Run samples between the plant and the analytical lab.Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of floors, machines, walls, and components.Essential SkillsExperience in manufacturing and/or sanitation.Additional Skills & QualificationsKnowledge of production, mixing, blending, and weighing materials.Experience as a mixer operator or blending operator.Familiarity with machine operations and quality control.Work Environment
The facility operates on a Monday to Thursday schedule with 1st shift hours from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The environment is clean but involves significant cleaning and sanitizing tasks. There is a strong smell during production runs due to the nature of the product. Occasionally, work will be conducted in a freezer area handling raw animal products, and jackets and warm gear will be provided.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
