Position Objective/Description:
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a pipe backhoe.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of heavy equipment used in piping operations, their capacities and physical limitations, and issues involved in ground disturbanceSafe driving abilities and strict adherence to safety requirements and proceduresAble to listen, follow directions, and have a willingness to continue to enhance skillsEffective communications with jobsite supervisor and co-workersGeneral knowledge of road construction processes.Demonstrate a safety first attitude. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general publicAbility to work nights and weekends when necessaryMust have reliable transportation, and ability to travel to assigned worksitesKnowledge and understanding of "safety systems" associated with equipment operation including set-up and emergency procedures. Knowledge and understanding of loading, unloading, and transport procedures for equipment; as well as compaction requirements for ground conditions, or customer needs. Knowledge in support equipment operation, digging equipment, vacuum units, reel trailers, backhoes, plows, and trenches.

Education / Experience:High School diploma or general education degree (GED)3 recent years’ experience working as a Backhoe Operator.Must have experience in laying water, sewer and storm pipeActive Driver’s license required with no DUIs or serious traffic violations. CDL Class "A" driver's license.
Work Environment:
Regularly works in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and humidity. Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. Handles various toxic products such as epoxies, grouts, sealers, paints and cleaners, with exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
