Job Title: Pipe Welder
Job Description

Candidates will be welding pipe in the shop that will then be sent out to the construction site for installation. There is an opportunity to move onto field work in the future if interested.

ResponsibilitiesWeld pipe in the shop for construction site installation.Familiarity with industrial and process piping systems, especially for hospital, industrial, and heavy institutional installations.Adhere to industry standard and code compliant construction practices.Read and interpret blueprints.Perform bevel joint cutting with an oxy-acetylene torch.Pass practical pipe welding tests, including: Carbon steel- 6010 root with 7018 fill in 6g position on 2” Monster coupon, Carbon steel- 6010 root with flux core fill in 6g position on a 6” schedule 80 coupon, and TIG welding on carbon steel and stainless steel.Essential SkillsMinimum of 5 years of experience in pipe welding.Experience with industrial and process piping systems.Ability to read and interpret blueprints.Experience with bevel joint cutting using an oxy-acetylene torch.Ability to pass practical pipe welding tests.Additional Skills & QualificationsCombo welding experience is a plus.Experience in TIG welding.Experience in pipefitting.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The work environment is a smaller shop setting that is clean but not climate-controlled. The hours are Monday-Thursday from 7:00am to 5:00pm, with potential overtime on Fridays from 7:00am to 3:30pm. Initial hours are four 10-hour days per week, with the potential for up to 50 hours per week in the future.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Charleston, South Carolina.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $31.00/hr.
