This position is available at both the Carson and Wilmington plants of the Los Angeles Refinery.

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:

Pipefitter plays a crucial role within the industry, specializing in installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing mechanical piping systems within the oil, chemical and gas industry. Pipefitters ensure the functionality and safety of pipes that transport various substances, such as water, hydrocarbon chemicals, and gases. In addition to pipe fitting the person will be expected to flex in rigging and welding crafts.

KEY RESULT AREAS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Install, repair, and maintain piping using hand tools and power tools.Read and make orthographic, plot plans and isometric drawings or sketches of piping systems.Inspect equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair. Ensure compliance with codes.Perform journeyman level piping tasksWill be expected to flex in the rigging and welding craftsUnderstand Energy IsolationFamiliarity with pipe classificationsPerform quality bolt up/torque workPerforms NDE Testing as required by codeThread Pipe AssembliesPerform good quality functionalities that me ASME & API standards.Marathon and OSHA Standards Compliant

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Minimum high school diploma required or GED equivalentBoilermaker/Pipefitter Certification PreferredMinimum 3-5 years journeyman level pipefitting tasks experienceGood communication and writing skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:The Pipefitter will perform these functions in various environmental conditions in the refinery including, but not limited to: indoors, such as shops, warehouses, and other indoor locations; outdoors, such as open areas, covered areas, process units, and other outdoor locations; heights, such as columns, tanks, pipe racks, and other areas; underground, such as vaults, pits, and inside of process equipment and other confined spaces.  The position may be exposed to other environmental requirements as well, such as heat, cold, wind, rain, and other naturally occurring elements Standing, walking lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds. Bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, stretching, pushing, pulling, dragging, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, use of hands and feet.Properly uses and handles safety materials and equipment such as personal protective equipment, respirators, and air supplied breathing apparatus.Some nightshift, weekend shift, and overtime required. This work is in a safety sensitive environment that requires you to pass and comply with a continuous random drug and alcohol-testing program.

Pay and Benefits
