Summary This position is located at the US Mint, Manufacturing Department, Denver Mint, in the Plant Manager, Plant Engineering Division, Industrial Maintenance Branch, Facility Maintenance Section. The purpose of the position is to exercise a high degree of judgment, initiative and ingenuity in locating sources of malfunctions in a wide range of situations and in recommending measures to prevent breakdowns. Responsibilities The following are the duties of this position at the WG-11. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position. The duties are as follows: Serve as an expert pipefitter and is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of high temperature water and high-pressure piping systems and other equipment. The incumbent will determine the nature of issues or problems and also the extent of repairs that are required; repairs may be complicated by multiple variables. Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair sanitary sewer and vent systems, storm drainage, domestic water, lawn irrigation systems, automatic fire protection system, pipe insulation, drain cleaning, low voltage electrical, flue pipes. Utilize the electronic Building Automation System (BAS) and related technology to install, monitor, diagnose, repair and maintain multifaceted, diverse vendor products as required to sustain the operations of the U.S. Mint and preserve heritage assets, including moisture-controlled preservation requirements related to piping systems and outside irrigation systems. Instruct employees in the operation of new building and process machinery and equipment. Perform the full range of tasks associated with the journeyman level pipefitter such as: Plan and lay out work using building plans, blueprints and sketches to determine the routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, expansion and operation of piping systems and equipment. This position requires pipefitting accreditations, journeyman or a master plumbing license, National Certification from the National Inspection Testing and Certification Corporation Requirements Conditions of Employment All employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines.
