The opportunity:
WestRock’s pulp and paper mill located in Longview, WA is actively seeking to fill an Intermediate-level Pipefitter position. The successful candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude and be willing and eager to invest time and energy in training to gain the necessary skills and knowledge required to be successful. This position will perform a variety of maintenance and repair activities on piping systems of all sizes in a large paper mill while adhering to safety protocols and policies. Some basic duties include inspecting and repairing piping systems and associated equipment, cutting, welding. Additionally, this position will interface operators, engineers, and management.
How you will impact WestRock:
Perform a variety of maintenance-related tasks in connection with the maintenance department.Repair and/or make improvements to equipment related to pulp and paper manufacturing processes.Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.Safely operate overhead cranes, rigging, pipe threading machines, welding equipment, tube bending machines, and various power tools.Read or sketch blueprints/drawings and perform own fit ups.Layout and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates.Assembly of components with some fabrication of equipment as needed for the job.Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.Operate cutting equipment.Fabricate and assemble screwed piping and tubing, fit weld pipe or butt weld pipe both carbon steel and stainless steel.Selecting type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications, knowledge of Troubleshooting industrial electrical equipment using the necessary test equipment like voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, and oscilloscopes.
What you need to succeed:
2+ years’ experience working in an industrial maintenance environment as an intermediate level pipefitter. Previous experience in a pulp and paper mill or other heavy industrial plant is a plus. Experience to include Reading and Taking Measurements, Welding Principles, Basic Mechanics, Power Tools, Industrial SafetyOr 2+ years as an experienced Welder - Industrial Math, Weld, Reading, Blueprints & Schematics and must be able to pass either a 6” Carbon Steel pipe, stick weld test or a 2” Stainless steel tig weld test.AWS, WABO or equivalent weld certifications a plus.Experience reading and taking measurements, welding principles, basic mechanics, power tools, industrial safety.Formal apprenticeship or education preferred.Self-motivated, results driven, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision or direction.Basic knowledge and experience in computer usage.High School Diploma or G.E.DMust be able to work rotating shifts.Must be able to pass a multi-phase physical.Must agree to complete sub-journeyman training program through training and testing provided by the company to reach Journeyman level status.
Compensation Offered
Starting wage of $29.15/hour.
