Pipeline Operations Specialist

Job Overview

Pipeline Specialist performs engineering analysis, design / pipeline specifications, material procurement, construction management / support, project management, and record completion data to complete basic to moderately complex system improvements, new business opportunities, as well as, measurement/regulator station projects for gas transmission pipelines. Determines work scope, works with ROW Manager for permitting requirements, develops and monitors project schedules, communicates project needs and status with internal or external customers.

General Accountabilities

Manage all scheduled assignments and projects from inception to final completion. Develop understanding and implication of DOT/PHMSA rules, as well as, company engineering, construction, and OM standards. Prioritize assigned tasks. Develop relationships, resolve conflicts, and coordinate with internal/external customers and contractors. Meet customer’s needs and expectations in a timely manner. Work flexible hours when required to meet critical deadlines. Achieve annual performance objectives established with Manager. Manage paper and electronic documents in accordance with company policies and standards. Recognize and report data/process anomalies. Participate in emergency response activities as needed. Support company operations when required.

Operations Support

Process customer requests and create necessary work orders. Perform tasks to track and complete work orders. Communicate with customers, visit customer and work sites, design drawings to develop work scopes, cost estimates and schedules, design pipeline routes and facilities, requisition material, request permitting, review/authorize invoice payments, communicate and coordinate activities with Field Operations, supply equipment data, and create/process PO’s as needed to facilitate completion of projects. Complete appropriate tasks as scheduled in response to internal and external customer demands, report generation, and data querying.

Project Management

Manage assigned projects through completion to achieve budgetary and business objectives. Coordinate system issues with Gas Engineering Team and Local Operations team. Report on progress throughout the life of the assignment/project. Identify, secure, and manage resources (internal or external) required to complete assignments/ projects. Manage multiple assignments and priorities concurrently. Evaluate bids and determine best value for engineering and construction activities. Oversee construction contractors, as well as, complete as-built documents to satisfy Company and regulatory requirements.

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, must exhibit solid analytical skills, problem solving abilities, reasoning skills, organization skills, multitasking skills, and communications skills. Identifiable construction management skills.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree, preferred Mechanical or Civil Engineering5 years in the Oil and Gas industry or relevant industrial experiencePipeline Operation or Construction experience preferred.
