Pipeline Operator

Position Description

Primary Purpose:

Perform and coordinate work group activities including patrolling, locating, construction inspection, and excavation inspection of CO2 and Crude pipelines.  Also responsible for operations and maintenance of Crude Oil Tanks. 

 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Surveillance and maintenance of facilities.Locate and mark facilities per Company Damage Prevention Program and One-Call procedures prior to and during encroachments and excavation.•Coordinate local Damage Prevention activities.Provide oversight and inspection to ensure asset protection and compliance with Company procedures of excavation activities near pipeline facilities.Represent the Company during contacts with landowner/tenants, public officials/emergency officials and at local meetings. (One Call, Pipeline Groups, Soil Conservation, USFS, etc.)Train and oversee company and third party personnel as required (e.g., personnel in progression, transport drivers, contractors, visitors)Follow all EHS procedures and practicesBe able to identify safety hazardsMaintain good standing with all required trainingParticipate in pipeline public awareness programs and emergency drillsRespond to pipeline emergencies such as spills, outages, power failures, etc.Launch and receive pipeline scraper pigsMaintain, repair, and operate valves and pumpsAssist with regulatory auditsRegular and predictable attendance.Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Experience / specific knowledge:

Must have completed at least one (1) year at Pipeline Operator 1 or industry equivalent

 

Certifications, licenses, registrations:

Maintain a satisfactory driving record as determined by the company and a current, valid State driver’s licenseSubject to random drug testingMust pass applicable OQ tasks as required

 

Competencies, skills, and abilities:

Proficient with assigned core computer programsFollow work procedures independently on less routine tasks or more complex equipment/processesAbility to work from written or verbal instructionsAbility to properly prioritize tasksIdentify problemsHave the ability to train othersAbility to speak and understand English.Ability to work with others, takes direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, and follow work rules.

 

Physical demands:

Driving in remote & congested areasWorking outside in extreme weatherFrequently lift and carry, unassisted, items weighing up to 50 poundsWalking, climbing, standing, and sittingSome inside work for training, working on computer
