Job Title: Piping Designer Job Description The Mechanical Designer-Piping SR 3 position requires over 20 years of related experience. You will provide 3D Piping/equipment designs for retrofit, environmental, and new generation projects. You will produce 2D orthographic and isometric drawings, P&IDs, pipe support designs, and 3D models. You will work with engineers and other designers across various disciplines to ensure safe, effective, and efficient designs. Knowledge of applicable codes and standards is essential, as well as the ability to gather field data to support the development of deliverables. You will also be responsible for preparing material take-offs, sizing, and selecting piping components, leading multi-discipline technical teams on projects, and reviewing and developing general arrangements. Responsibilities + Provide 3D Piping/equipment designs for retrofit, environmental, and new generation projects. + Produce 2D orthographic and isometric drawings, P&IDs, pipe support designs, and 3D models. + Work with engineers and other designers across various disciplines to ensure safe, effective, and efficient designs. + Apply knowledge of applicable codes and standards in work situations. + Gather field data to support the development of deliverables. + Prepare material take-offs, size, and select piping components. + Lead multi-discipline technical teams on projects. + Review and develop general arrangements. Essential Skills + Over 20 years of related experience in piping design. + Intermediate design experience in mechanical piping systems for new construction and retrofit of power generation or similar heavy industrial facilities. + Proficiency in using 3D modeling tools for piping system layout and designs (AutoPLANT and/or AVEVA preferred). + Experience in producing 2D orthographic and isometric drawings, P&IDs, pipe supports, and 3D piping and equipment models. + Experience checking design drawings and documents. + Experience preparing material take-offs. + Technical in basic piping construction techniques, practices, and concepts. + Knowledge of pipe/material selection and valve selection. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Highly efficient in managing multiple concurrent large projects. + Ability to work with minimal instruction and guidance. + Self-motivated and a good team player. + Good organizational skills. + Experience with construction support. + Experience reviewing and developing general arrangements. + Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff, and vendors. Work Environment The work environment involves working closely with engineers and designers from various disciplines to ensure cohesive and efficient project outcomes. You will utilize 3D modeling tools such as AutoPLANT and AVEVA for piping system layouts and designs. The role requires gathering field data and supporting construction efforts. You will work on multiple concurrent large projects, necessitating strong organizational and team collaboration skills.
