Piping Inspector

Position Overview and Responsibilities:


The QC Piping inspector is responsible to the Construction Manager for all activities associated with the monitoring and inspection of the fabrication, installation and testing of process and utility.

 

Key Duties:
 

To work in accordance with the company’s project department management system. Remain abreast of legislative requirements. Interpretation of design/engineering documentation. Assist in the breakdown of system / sub-system limits. Ensure work is carried out in accordance with relevant Codes, Standards and Procedures. Ensure technical integrity of all discipline deliverables on the project. Report / validate discipline progress as required by the Construction Manager. Maintain and develop current awareness of relevant engineering technology & Codes and Standards. Liaise with other disciplines, departments, project personnel and contractors. Carry out continual monitoring on a daily basis for quality and compliance to project codes, standards and specifications. Review Fabricator / Installation Contractor ITP’s and insert witness and hold points. Carry out inspections as detailed in the Inspection & Test Plans Participate in goods inward inspection at the request of the Construction Manager. Liaise with piping design office to answer piping fabrication / installation Contractors queries. Carryout pre / post-test inspections. Ensure Contractors are working in accordance with the project procedures and specifications / data sheets. Establish a working relationship with third party inspectors and communicate on a regular basis to ensure that their contractual obligation with regard to piping is being fulfilled. Review Contractor generated Test Packs Witness critical hydraulic / pneumatic tests Verify that the contractor is performing all piping activities in accordance with project requirements, specifications, standards and procedures. Liaise with Completions Engineer to ensure the accuracy of the certification being input. Carry out P&ID checks against test packs to ensure all pipework is tested in accordance specifications

 

Education, Experience & Technical Qualifications:

 

A thorough background in the piping discipline, a working knowledge of industry specifications.
