Job Description

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Being a Safety Leader for the geology department and all its business partners.Responsible for maintaining and improving the effectiveness, efficiencies, and sustainability of the geological component of the mine technical service team.Ore Control and Stockpile Management (incl spatial material tracking).Site specific procedures, standards and guidelines and dissemination of Best Practice Principles (incl. QAQC requirements relating to SAMREC and company specifications).Geological Risk Management and Compliance.Systems and Information Management to maintain geological mapping, drilling, logging, plotting and sampling coverages.Has a very good understanding of the complexity of the ore body and is either familiar with the fundamental basics on the compilation and/or outputs from the site resource modelling.Validate, Interpret and analyze geological information for prediction of future reserves and accurate mine design and scheduling.Review and dissemination of geological reports.Geological Mapping, Drilling, Sampling and Logging activities in line with Group Standard requirements and frequencyOversight and compilation of geological/structural models for the ore body in his/her area of responsibility.Part takes actively in the departmental optimization Projects.Responsible for the execution of Blast Movement Monitoring and post-blast dig block optimization.Provides technical guidance and coaching to section and graduate geologists.

This role is at a Band 6 level reporting to the Geology Manager.

QualificationsAppropriate Tertiary Geology qualification (BSc Hons. or similar role appropriate qualification in MRM/Geosciences)Registered Natural Scientist (SACNASP) advantageous Certificate of Fitness (Red Ticket)

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

5 years Post qualification experience in mining geology4 years Post qualification experience in Bushveld and platinum geology would be advantageousComputer literate: MS Office and discipline specific software (such as Deswik, Leapfrog, Bloy, Datamine, OrePro 3D and AcQuire)Sound knowledge pertaining to mining (especially open pit) and exploration geology
