Plan Checker (Civil Engineering) – Contract
📍 Location: Redlands, CA
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Plan Check Engineer to review and approve engineering plans for municipal and public agency clients. This role requires expertise in grading, storm drain, street improvement, and sewer plans, ensuring compliance with engineering codes, standards, and regulations. If you have strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and experience in public works or land development projects, this opportunity is for you!
Key Responsibilities
✔ Conduct detailed reviews of engineering plans for compliance with municipal and regulatory standards.
✔ Analyze civil engineering documents such as grading, storm drain, sewer, and street improvement plans.
✔ Review survey documents including lot line adjustments, parcel mergers, legal descriptions, and hydrology reports.
✔ Verify drainage plans such as SWPPPs, WQMPs, and hydrology studies for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
✔ Collaborate with agencies, municipalities, and developers to ensure project approvals and smooth permitting processes.
✔ Provide technical insights and support design teams in civil engineering projects.
✔ Use software tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Adobe PDF for plan reviews and documentation.
What You Bring
✅ Education & Experience:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (required)
+ 7+ years of experience in plan checking, civil engineering, or public works projects
+ Expert knowledge of CA engineering codes, traffic guidance, and municipal regulations
+ Experience in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and technical documentation
✅ Technical Skills:
+ Strong understanding of building codes, civil design, and traffic engineering
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Adobe PDF (preferred but not required)
+ Ability to review and assess hydrology studies, WQMPs, SWPPPs, and drainage reports
✅ Certifications & Licensing (Preferred):
+ Professional Engineer (PE) or EIT Certification (a plus, but not required)
✅ Work Environment & Schedule:
+ On-site position with hybrid work flexibility (case-by-case basis)
+ Team of 3 Plan Checkers, working under Project Manager Cassandra Silva
+ Flexible schedule with a preferred 8 AM start time

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $75.00/hr.
