Senior Planner Buyer
Position Summary
The Senior Planner Buyer plays a crucial role in managing and optimizing the procurement and inventory processes within an organization. They are responsible for overseeing the planning and purchasing activities to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services. This role involves strategic planning, supplier negotiation, and inventory management to support the company’s operational goals.
Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000
Responsibilities
Procurement Management:
Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure the best prices and quality.
Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
Inventory Control:
Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock without overstocking.
Implement inventory management strategies to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Planning and Scheduling:
Create and manage production schedules to meet customer demand.
Coordinate with various departments to align production plans with business objectives.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct financial analyses to evaluate cost-saving opportunities.
Prepare budgets and forecasts related to procurement and inventory.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and legal regulations.
Prepare and present reports on procurement activities and performance metrics.
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in cross-functional projects to enhance operational efficiency.
Recommend improvements to procurement processes and systems.
Source and negotiate with suppliers to secure high-quality materials at competitive prices.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain.
Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
Implement inventory control systems to optimize stock levels and reduce carrying costs.
Create and manage production schedules to align with customer demand and production capacity.
Coordinate with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure timely and efficient manufacturing processes.
Analyze and manage procurement budgets to achieve cost savings.
Conduct cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making in purchasing and inventory management.
Ensure that all purchased materials meet the required quality standards and specifications.
Analyze production capacity and constraints within SAP to balance workload and adjust schedules as necessary.
Monitor production progress within SAP and identify potential bottlenecks or delays, taking proactive measures to address them. Communicate any changes to relevant stakeholders and ensure date alignment between SAP and Oracle
Work closely with the quality control team to address any issues related to supplier quality.
Utilize ERP systems to track and analyze procurement and inventory data.
Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, inventory status, and supplier performance.
Identify opportunities for process improvements in procurement and inventory management.
Lead or participate in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
Experience and Skill Required
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field. (preferred)
5+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field within a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP and ORACLE) and inventory management software.
Proficient in both English and Mexican Spanish. This includes the ability to read, write, and speak both languages at a professional level, enabling effective communication in a business environment.
Strong analytical abilities to assess data and make informed decisions.
Ability to identify and resolve issues related to procurement and inventory management.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills to interact effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 25 pounds frequently to constantly.
Must be able to constantly stand or sit for long periods of time as necessary in the work area.
