The Buyer/Planner is responsible for the daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules. Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all planning and monitoring of master data for Oneonta manufactured and purchased products, for both finished goods and raw materials. Reconciling and reporting of all applicable performance metrics for planning and manufacturing of products. Providing data and leading effective interaction between planning, operations, and the supply chain to ensure material availability and production efficiency. Will assist and/or lead the development, communication, and execution of Global Supply Management (GSM) strategic sourcing strategies and plans to procure products or services in alignment with business objectives and strategies for assigned global commodities.
Requirements B.S. in Business, Supply Chain or a related field. 3+ years of experience in plant manufacturing, production coordination, or supply chain. Experience with GSM processes and systems, knowledge of various supply chain areas. Experience on project teams. Demonstrated analytical abilities. Understanding of production line flow, equipment capacities, and finished goods inventory management. Proficiency in using and managing relational databases such as SQL, Oracle, or MS Access. Experience working in a matrix environment or on a cross functional team. Previous experience in manufacturing – operations, planning, engineering, supply management or procurement. Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning systems like SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics. These systems often incorporate AI and database elements. Comprehensive Microsoft office and database application skills. (Excel-pivot tables, v-lookup, Word, Exchange, PowerPoint, Access). Ability to gather and analyze complex data from various sources to make informed decisions is preferred. Prior experience as a plant or corporate Buyer is preferred. Duties and Responsibilities Utilize knowledge of supply chain concepts and principles in all decision processes. Daily coordination with operations to set production priorities and monitor production planning activities through daily updates of the production schedule. Facilitate daily and weekly production meetings, as required. Utilize planning system to create monthly/weekly manufacturing requirements and develop operational plan. Work closely with supply chain to create monthly locked-in production schedule. Coordinate schedules with customer service, suppliers, receiving, manufacturing, and shipping to ensure customer requirements are met. Responsible for maintenance and date sequencing of planned orders. Plans and schedules production requirements to balance manufacturing capacity against forecasted demand. Maintenance of the ERP system planning/purchasing master data including but not limited to BOM’s, routings, work centers and purchasing info records. Develop recovery plan for low inventory products and monitor execution to plans. Maintain adequate raw material inventories to support the production plan. Drives continuous improvement in planning systems. Participate as core team member on all new material, material change and validation project teams and maintain current engineering specification change revisions. Perform monthly surveillance of all planning objectives to assure alignment to divisional goals and strategies. Work with Operations to develop attainable schedules to minimize late work orders, backorder and improve workflow to meet metrics targets. Conduct analysis and provide regular status updates to leadership. Revises the plant’s capacity utilization plan as needed based on forecasted demand. Works with Engineering and Production leadership to optimize assumptions and factor in capital projects for process or machine improvements that will affect capacity. Supports Engineering & Production to schedule and deploy new or changes process or products into the production environment. Develops and/or assists with Strategic Sourcing plans and objectives (short & long term) based on forecasts of future demand and considering economic and currency trends and conditions that affect GSM, the business, and the global commodity sourced. Resolves contract, quality, payment or other supply/service issues with suppliers and end users when required. Develops and executes supplier management programs for critical suppliers. Integrates technical and commercial feedback. Sets goals for improvement and track progress. Owns, manages, and provides inputs for the Contributions Metrics system. Ensures all business relationships follow appropriate corporate policy and governance requirements. Leads and executes RFI's, RFP's, and RFQ's. Identify cost reduction and/or cost avoidance opportunities, executes projects/initiatives to deliver cost savings. Works with Corning Shared Services to ensure smooth transaction processes and resolve issues. Champions and advocates for the Global Buying Policy. Ensures compliance

The range for this position is $57,152.00 - $78,584.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
