Under general supervision, a Planner IV performs all aspects of transportation, freight, and transit planning assignments. Work emphasizes planning, data analysis, and other technical aspects of projects but may include limited task assignee duties and tasks associated with business development. May assist in directing small-scale planning projects and portions of larger projects from concept development through project completion.

What You’ll Do:

Leads aspects of internal and external coordination with project team members, including other discipline areas involved with the project.Develops and maintains client meetings and interactions.Conducts or directs research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning, and formulates recommendations.Develops conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projects.Leads tasks under general direction related to the preparation and production of technical plans, studies, written reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.Responsible for significant portions of presentations and public facilitation.Coordinates with clients, sub-consultants, and in-house personnel on a regular basis to complete assigned tasks.Assists in directing teams for small or medium sized tasks for projects.Mentors and provides direction on the work of less experienced staff.Assists in the preparation of scopes of work, fee proposals and responses to RFP’s for projects.Writes major sections of and leads production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects. Also coordinates and synthesizes the contributions of others.Research data sources, gathers data, and conducts analysis of data for use in projects.Develops planning and analysis strategies using tools such as GIS, traffic, or safety software to manipulate data, assess scenarios, and perform project analysis.Leads planning processes and technical solutions that best meet the project needs.Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field and 6 years related professional experience, orMaster's Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field and 5 yrs of relevant experience

What You’ll Bring:

Transportation, transit, freight, and environmental planning experience.Provide guidance and technical assistance to state Department of Transportation on current Federal planning requirements, policies, procedures, and guidanceCollect data and summarize in written documentation with analysis that will be reviewed by both technical and non-technical audiences.Coordinate with project team members, clients and government agencies.Direct, coordinate and review technical work performed by others particularly sub-consultants.Perform quality reviews of deliverables to client requirements are met and high-quality products are produced.Assist in the preparation of scopes of work, fee proposals and responses to RFP’s.Assist with grant writing opportunities.Final production of report documents, environmental documents and reports.Final production of graphics associated with public meetings, presentation drawings, reports, etc.Coordinate with sub-consultants and in-house personnel on a regular basis to complete assigned tasks.Support studies and planning activities related to multi-modal transportation projects. Conduct transportation and land use related research and documentation.Conduct public outreach activities as required to comply with state and federal guidelines.Assist in formulating and conducting technical planning studies in a timely and efficient manner and present results in concise, well-written documents.Prepare graphical materials in support of transportation studies.

What We Prefer:

AICP certification desiredProficiency in ArcGIS Online and TableauProficiency in Microsoft suiteRegional and/or Statewide Planning ExperienceCompletion of FHWA NHI Training Courses on resilient highway project development and design (42081-142084) or similar training
