Planner / Scheduler III

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for planning and scheduling Coherent A&D orders from time of sales order release to final shipment. Schedules and coordinates tooling, testing requirements, outside purchases and processing.  Oversees flow of work through all departments by creating and maintaining detailed schedules to establish production priorities. Responsible to drive operational staff to meet internal and external commitments.

Education & Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in planning and expediting function or materials management in a job-shop environment Experience utilizing and/or implementing modern ERP/MRP II applications Strong background in the APICs body of knowledge preferred

Skills/Knowledge:

Strong customer service orientation Strong working knowledge of computerized integrated manufacturing systems. Strong communication/interpersonal skills. Well-developed organizational, problem solving and reporting skills to enable the coordination of multiple tasks. Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Ability to meet deadlines Working knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook

Planning/Scheduling

Effective planning interface is fostered between PC and Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Program Management, Finance, and Quality:

Develops timely and effective production plans to meet requirements of customer contracts utilizing modern ERP/MRP II applications. Interfaces with Sales on orders to ensure that delivery dates are as quoted or achievable and provides updates to delivery dates as required. Prioritizes and schedules all facets of the manufacturing cycle as required. Tooling, outside purchases and work orders are scheduled and coordinated with Engineering.  Ensures that all tooling, assembly hardware and lower-level parts are available to meet delivery schedules. Interfaces with purchasing to ensure material requirements for orders are met.   Coordinates with other planners to schedule and prioritize product manufacturing in departments

Report/Tracking

Ensure that IFS records allow interface with program management, sales staff and others on part location and final product on time delivery status. Responsible for work order integrity (i.e. issues, splits, dates and that next levels are correct). As required provide status on sales orders or programs and reports on issues related to shop capacity, materials purchases, vendor contacts, and inventory availability. Through effective interfacing with other PC employees via staff meetings, reporting and system monitoring, etc., is able to completely carry out responsibilities of other production planners, expediters, or parts movers.

Planner Process Responsibilities
 

Notification:

Monitor the backlog report to assure assigned jobs are identified and planned.

Develop and communicate router level schedule:

Include planned and realized yields Include pre-production support activities; ME planning, tooling and fixturing, coating process development, long lead time materials Use realistic, reasonably aggressive spans to meet required deliveries. Obtain concurrence and commitments from involved functional managers; ME Planning, Process Engineering, Production, etc. Update/modify the router level plan as required, such as unplanned yields, supplier delays, re-schedule router dates, etc. Escalate any significant risks as soon as they are evident and communicate and document any risks to contract delivery dates to programs or sales management.

Release ad monitor purchase orders, shop orders and tooling/fixturing orders in support of the router level schedule and assure open shop orders continue to move through the plant or are identified, escalated and dispositioned accordingly.


     1)   Modify IFS shop order start and stop dates to align with the router level plan.
     2)   Monitor material supplier promise dates and delivery dates.
     3)   Monitor product flow through production departments.
     4)   Monitor completion dates for required support group activities; ME, QE, Machine Shop, Process Development, etc.
     5)   Escalate any significant risks as soon as they are evident and communicate and document any risks to contract delivery dates to programs or sales management.
     6)   Re-negotiate priority/commitment as required to recover schedule whenever possible.
