Planning Manager

DIVERSEY - PLANNING MANAGER - JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Planning Manager

Reports to: Plant Manager
Location: London

Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Planning Manager will lead the planning team in achieving plant objectives. Key responsibilities include developing an efficient production schedule that ensures on-time, complete deliveries, optimizes production efficiency, and minimizes finished goods inventory. The role will also focus on managing the timely delivery of components and raw materials, while continuously working to reduce on-hand inventory levels.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the Planning Team: Direct a plant planning and scheduling team to generate weekly manufacturing schedules that align with plant goals related to safety, quality, cost, and efficiency.Schedule Compliance: Develop and oversee daily manufacturing schedules to meet unit fill and schedule compliance targets.Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with business stakeholders to prioritize planning communications, such as Backorder Reports, Hot Lists, and S&OP data.SAP Expertise: Serve as the SAP subject matter expert for MRP and ERP activities, ensuring efficiency in scheduling, planning, and purchasing processes.Supplier Relationships: Manage relationships with raw material and component suppliers and act as the main point of contact with the North America sourcing team, including overseeing master data setup for new materials and the timely disposal of obsolete goods.Shipping/Receiving Leadership: Oversee the shipping and receiving operations, ensuring adherence to established procedures while recommending and implementing process improvements to enhance quality, accuracy, and timeliness.Inventory Management: Supervise physical inventory and cycle count programs for packaging and raw materials.Rework/Repair Oversight: Manage the rework/repack area for customer and warehouse returns to minimize waste and obsolescence.Safety Leadership: Champion safety initiatives, making measurable improvements in plant safety practices.Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop your team by setting individual goals, conducting performance reviews, and providing coaching and feedback.Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives by re-imagining and refining the planning process.In-Sourcing Leadership: Act as the plant champion for identifying and leading in-sourcing opportunities.Plant Leadership Participation: Participate in plant leadership activities and committees, contributing to initiatives such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, GMP, EHS, and RDA.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

Education: Post-secondary degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required.Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in planning, logistics, inventory control, and shipping/receiving operations, ideally at the management level.Technical Skills: High proficiency in SAP (scheduling, order management, and reporting), and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong financial acumen.Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate plant goals into actionable, measurable plans.Lean Experience: Lean certification or experience with proven results in implementing lean methodologies.5S/Clean/Organized: Strong belief in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment to enhance productivity.Certification: APICS certification preferred.Industry Knowledge: Experience in chemical manufacturing and material handling is a plus.Leadership: Exceptional leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.Organization & Multitasking: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable presenting to various audiences.Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, utilizing techniques such as the 5-Why method to drive process improvements.
