Takealot.com, a leading South African online retailer, is looking for a highly talented Planning Manager to join our Retail Planning Team in Cape Town.

The position reports to the Head of Planning
Your responsibilities will include:
Work in partnership with Buying Managers to drive the growth and market share objectives of the division in line with the retail strategy Own and manage divisional annual sales, margin and stock budgets to ensure targets are achieved Day-to-day management of margin, working capital investment, forecasting, availability, and stock health Develop and manage the implementation of the appropriate merchandise cycle ensuring that all milestones including but not limited to; seasonality, promotion planning, markdown cycles, import purchasing & continual replenishment are achieved based on the appropriate lead times and procurement cycle Create sustainable in-stock systems and processes in partnership with Central Planning, Supply Chain, technical and product teams Support the build of balanced and profitable seasonal range plans. Drive complex business analysis that identifies opportunities to improve cost structure and profitability, focusing on continual contribution margin improvements Lead a team of planners
Attributes required:
Strong numerical and analytical aptitude, capable of turning raw data into information and insights Team oriented with strong written and oral communication skills, and able to effectively manage multiple projects with a high degree of accuracy and meet demanding timelines Ability to work independently, strong attention to detail, and a passion for process implementation Proven track record of managing and executing large projects from start to finish, including project management, data gathering and modeling, problem solving, and communicating recommendations Exceptional problem solving & analytical skills Strong proficiency in using Excel Proactive attitude and willingness to roll up sleeves and dig deep to achieve high level goals
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance or related field 7+ years of experience in Retail planning Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Retail Merchandise Manager role Advanced computer literacy experience in Excel and Planning systems Proven experience leading a team Experience working with large and complex data sets to drive business decisions
