Our Edmonton office has an opportunity for a Planning Student to join our r Community Development Group. The Edmonton Planning group is Stantec’s largest and most diverse planning team. We work on a wide variety of private and public sector planning projects
that include master planned communities, urban design, land use entitlements, public sector policy planning, public consultation, due diligence reports, infill redevelopment projects, campus planning and regional land use planning. Our multi-disciplinary approach means we work with architects, civil engineers, landscape architects, environmental scientist and transportation engineers.
This posting is for one (1) Planning Student position that will commence in May 2025. A minimum 4-month term, opportunities for extension will be discussed with the applicants.
Your Key Responsibilities: Provide general planning support to the Community Development – Urban Planning Team. Assist the Urban Planning Team on a variety of projects with work that could include the following tasks: research and analysis, report writing, design analysis, land use due diligence, public consultation support and any other activities as part of planning projects. Assist our Engagement Team with reports and engagement activities. Assist in the preparation of proposals and other business development activities. Willingness to work in a challenging and fast paced work environment. Other supportive responsibilities. Travel outside the Edmonton office and across Alberta may be required. Your Qualifications and Credentials: The candidates will be highly motivated, willing to work in both an individual and team-oriented environment, and ready to participate in a wide variety of planning projects. Previous planning employment experience is an asset, but not necessarily a requirement. Strong organizational skills and understanding how to prioritize Strong written and oral communication skills Knowledge and experience of planning theory Creative problem solving and analytical skills A valid driver’s license is an asset. Education and Experience: The candidate must be enrolled in a certified post-secondary Planning Program.
