Job Purpose
The Waste Water Technician position will operate and maintain the wastewater collection, storage and treatment systems as well as the Acid Farm. Ensure pumps, filter presses, piping and other wastewater treatment equipment are functioning properly. Assure compliance with regulatory requirements while providing continuous operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant for the removal of lead Operation of the wastewater collection, chemical storage, water clarification, water storage, re-use, and pH neutralization subsystems Operation and calibration of the pH and flow control meters Operation of the Acid Mix system Operation of the DI and RO water subsystems Assist with deliveries of bulk acid and oxide Basic equipment troubleshooting and plumbing skills Maintain 5S standards throughout wastewater and the oxide dock Wear appropriate PPE as required including, but not limited to: approved eye protection, gloves, PAPR, company uniform, approved work boots.Competencies:
An understanding of the requirements for the waste water operation and its environmental regulations Working knowledge of the equipment and the relationship to plant operations equipment processes Functional knowledge of the waste water chemicals and their functions
General Operating and Physical Specifications:
In addition to the above-mentioned requirements, the following physical expectations are put in place:
Ability to frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel and/or crouch. Ability to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, etc. Ability to lift, place and/or move up to 50 lbs. (23 kilos) on a daily /continual basis. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Keeping personal and/or assigned equipment and tools in good working order. Willing and able to work overtime and assume assignments within varied shift schedules. Shift schedules and assignments may include working on nights, weekends and days traditionally recognized as holidays. Qualifications Must be able to perform each job duty satisfactorily Must exhibit a working knowledge of the systems, chemistry, and maintenance of the wastewater operations Must maintain safety and compliance with state, local, OSHA, and EPA regulations Must work to maintain Gold Award achievements established by the Missouri Water Environment Association Education/Experience: High School diploma or GED and 1 yr. EnerSys production experience or wastewater treatment experience Communication: Proficient verbal and written skills in English Mathematics: High level of accuracy in basic math and use of a calculator Reasoning: Ability to associate cause and effect relationships and determine patterns of activity in anticipation of change to the operation or personnel. Computer Skills: Email, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), basic typing, CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Software) Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Class “C” Missouri Department of Natural Resources License or Grade 1 Industrial Wastewater Treatment license (or related field, education, and experience) a plus. HAZMAT Material Transportation Certificate a plus. Forklift License. Scissor lift and boom lift training. Other skills and abilities: Must be self-directed, self-managed, and capable of multitasking. Good time management, organization, and attention to detail is a must.
