Job Overview: We have a requirement for a Plant Accountant to assist with daily, month-end and year-end responsibilities needed in the plant. This role will provide support to Plant Controller. The position will be based at the Penticton office (Monday to Friday).\n

Responsibilities: \n
\n\nAssists the Controller in regular daily, weekly and month end activities.\nAssists the Controller in balance sheet reconciliations including bank reconciliations and analysis of key accounts.\nPrepares journal entries and otherwise assists Controller in timely and accurate preparation of the monthly Financial Statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.\nAssist the Controller to trouble shoot any problems that develop in the accounting department, systems or procedures.\nAccounts payable and payroll support when need be.\nLearn all the Champion policies relating to all accepted internal accounting controls.\nLearn all the software used by Champion relating to the accounting and financial functions.\nQuarterly Work Safe BC\/PST returns.\n\n

Education and Experience: \n
\n

Diploma in accounting, finance or relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.\n

AND\n

One to two years of experience as an accountant or similar role.\n

Manufacturing experience is a plus.\n
\n

Requirements:\n
\n\nKnowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)\nProficient in MS Office (Excel, Word) and accounting software\nAble to effectively communicate and work closely with diverse groups.\nStrong work ethic and sense of responsibility and confidentiality\nAn organized self-starter who is attentive to detail and able to work independently\nFlexible work schedule to meet deadlines\nLocation: In Office\n\n
