Position Description:

The Plant Controller is located at our Goodyear Statesville, North Carolina plant and responsible for the overall accounting, plant financials, budgets, forecasts, and internal controls.   Specifically, you are responsible for the accounting, forecasting, plant financial results, internal controls, and all financial functions for our Statesville, NC and Tall Timbers, OH plants associated with the tire mold manufacturing. This includes assisting in the monthly financial statement close and plant financial reporting, while maintaining effective internal controls in compliance with SOX and company policy.  This position also owns all plant forecasting/FP&A processes and functions as a member of the Plant Leadership Team for both plants. You will be responsible for standardizing processes between the two plant locations to ensure that processes align in future state.

 

Principal Responsibility:

Oversee the monthly/quarterly financial reporting, forecasting, and special analyses at both the Statesville and Tall Timbers manufacturing plants.  This includes all financial statement close procedures, account reconciliations, balance sheet analytics, SOX requirements, and establishing judgmental reserve balances.  This also includes all FP&A forecasting/budgeting procedures to ensure forecast accuracy. Ensure processes are compliant with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Company Policy. Responsible for statutory books and US GAAP adjustments required. Responsible for ensuring plants close with on-time accuracy. Responsible for owning and understanding all workstreams and processes of end-to-end accounting. This includes standardizing and aligning plant procedures between Statesville and Tall Timbers to ensure best practices are being followed. Identify differences in processes, assign workstream responsibilities, regularly communicate with plant leadership, and meet deadlines for standardizing identified procedures. Ensure that a robust internal control structure is in place, functioning effectively, and appropriately tested in accordance with SOX for both the Statesville and Tall Timbers locations.  Ensure that identified control and internal audit gaps are remediated on a timely basis. Involved in developing talent for the finance organization, including development of professionals within the business and succession planning for key finance roles.  Understand, summarize and communicate clearly the financial/operating results of the plants in order to measure progress against objectives and assess the effectiveness of decisions made.  Identify actionable cost reduction and cash flow generation opportunities; analyze potential plant investments, restructuring, budget changes, etc.

Required Experience and Education:

Undergraduate Degree with a concentration in a business-related field (i.e. accounting, finance, economics, etc.) Minimum 5 years of progressively more responsible experience in accounting / financial analysis preferably in a plant setting. Or, 7 years of general Accounting experience along with people leadership skills included. Preferred Change management experience, focused on getting large groups "on board" with new processes and techniques.

Preferred Personal Skills/Attributes/and Qualifications:

Thorough understanding of US GAAP, accounting for complex transactions and internal controls in compliance with SOX. Excellent leadership, consulting, coaching, training, organization, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong knowledge, understanding and practical skills in relevant systems (i.e. ERP systems (SAP preferred)), MS office, Hyperion, etc. High level of understanding of how key accounting decisions impact the business units and forecasted operating results/cash flows. Able to analyze and grasp a situation quickly from different perspectives and create well-reasoned solutions.
