Plant Cost Accountant
Description We are offering an exciting opportunity in the field of Manufacturing Cost Accounting, located in Oakland, Iowa. As a Plant Cost Accountant, you will be expected to handle a variety of tasks, including maintaining pricing files, preparing production reports, and conducting cost analyses for new products. You will also play a crucial role in audits and inventory tracking, as well as maintaining our ERP system and ensuring accurate monthly closing. Responsibilities: • Accurately and efficiently process customer credit applications • Maintain and update pricing files on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis • Prepare daily and weekly production reports, including profit and loss statements, labor hour analysis, and the progress of cost savings against plan • Conduct cost analysis for new products to determine production viability and profitability • Participate in financial and inventory audits, ensuring accurate documentation and physical counts • Monitor inventory flow through the ERP system and work with the manufacturing team to ensure accurate cycle counts • Maintain and develop ERP system costing for customer products, ensuring accurate monthly closing • Prepare monthly and year-to-date budget analysis for management review and decision making • Produce weekly, period, and quarterly analysis and variance reports for Plant Management review • Monitor finished goods on a daily basis and reconcile any discrepancies • Review invoices for accuracy, prepare check requests or purchase orders, and ensure timely payment • Prepare month-end general accruals and account reconciliations • Participate in problem-solving activities to improve facility operations • Adhere to safety procedures and regulations, promoting a safe working environment Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role as a Plant Cost Accountant. • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required. • Experience with ADP - Financial Services is preferable. • Familiarity with Crystal Reports is advantageous. • Knowledge of Epicor software is essential. • Practical experience with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning is required. • Capability to handle various Accounting Functions effectively. • Experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) is necessary. • Skills in Auditing are essential. • Comprehensive understanding of Budget Processes. • Proficiency in managing Cash Activity. • Expertise in Cost Accounting is required. • Familiarity with Manufacturing Cost Accounting. • Experience in conducting Annual Inventory is preferred. • Knowledge of SAP Manufacturing is beneficial. • Ability to effectively manage Month End Close.
