Job Title: Production Engineer
Job Description
+ Oversee the aluminum extrusion production process including the finishing process, powder coating, fill and debridge process, from design to completion.
+ Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
+ Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to refine production layout designs.
+ Identify optimization of processes, particularly with extrusion, fabrication, and powder coating operations, improving production, reducing process variation, stabilizing machine operations, and reducing scrap material.
+ Utilize EPICS data management system to effectively control and manage information throughout the plant, use modules, and add-on features to improve productivity.
+ Evaluate equipment failures and develop solutions for failures.
+ Draft and design extrusion shapes, packaging diagrams, and equipment plans with AutoCAD.
+ Recommend and participate in new or replacement equipment selection to optimize operations and assist in standardizing components used throughout the plant.
+ Collaborate with the management team to assist in the development of the annual budget process via scope development, project descriptions, solicitation for quotes, and total budget costs of projects.
+ Assist in developing and monitoring engineering or maintenance procedures that are safe and effective.
+ Analyze process measurements and maintain detailed notes of observations.
+ Work on improving manufacturing metrics such as man-hours, material yield, equipment utilization, and reject rate.
+ Analyze production costs, cost-saving methods, and the effects of production process changes on expenditures for management review, action, and control.
+ Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve production efficiency and shorten manufacturing lead time.
+ Create and maintain SOPs for finishing processes to ensure quality and consistency.
+ Contribute and lead continuous improvement or lean improvement projects.
+ Troubleshoot production issues and implement effective solutions.
+ Confer with customers, vendors, and operation teams regarding purchasing, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.
+ Train and monitor production teams on extrusion processes and best practices.
+ Assist the team in fostering a culture of safety across all levels, particularly on the production floors.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 5 years of industrial or process engineering experience with expertise in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
+ Solid knowledge of extrusion machinery and equipment.
+ Proficient in AutoCAD for engineering.
+ Exceptional problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
+ Strong organizational and time management skills.
+ Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and be results-oriented.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in industrial, manufacturing, mechanical engineering, or related field preferred but significant experience can be considered.
+ Experience in the aluminum extrusion industry is highly preferred.
+ Knowledge of PLC is a plus but not required.
Work Environment
The Production Engineer will work directly with the GM, Process Engineers, and the Plant Manager, as well as general production workers. Most of the time will be spent in the plant, which is not a climate-controlled environment. Despite some dust from the aluminum extrusion process, the facility is very clean.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $135000.00 - $135000.00/yr.

The attached benefit guide really goes into detail about how our HRA works and a summary of benefits for health, dental and vision. The dental is a discount dental but, there is a separate dental plan through Guardian that has $1,000 in benefit pay-out; the vision is at no additional cost to you as long as you are participating in the health plan. The rates for the health and dental benefits are attached and listed as bi-weekly pay period deductions. If you choose to participate in health benefits, these will go into effect on the first of the month after sixty (60) days of employment; dental is after ninety (90) days of employment. Gateway Extrusions does have a $40,000 Group Life Plan and $40,000 AD&D plan that you are eligible to participate in after 90 days of service at no additional cost to you. You may also elect to do voluntary group life insurance at your discretion; the employee is guaranteed issue up to $100,000 without having to do a Statement of Health, the employee’s spouse is guaranteed issue up to $30,000 without having to do a statement of health and voluntary group life insurance for children is $10,000. There is a 401(k) plan for which you would be eligible to participate in on the first of the quarter after six months of service. The employer will make matching contributions on the elective deferrals in an amount equal to 40% of your elective deferral which does not exceed 10% of your eligible compensation.
