The Role
As a Plant Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Nuclear Operations Governance Group is focused on ensuring work across the site is undertaken safely and in accordance with our processes. The department is responsible for nuclear implicated equipment and services across Devonport Royal Dockyard to support the submarine programme.
Day-to-day, you’ll focus on the governance over the existing or planned nuclear facilities on site.
Understanding the mechanical, electrical, and civil systems required to support the nuclear site and identification and management of actions to ensure that the design intent is met. Author nuclear safety documentation to capture the status of facility plant and assets. Manage the implementation of activities on the site including liaising with multiple stakeholders and providing guidance on nuclear safety requirements. To assist in the continuity of all essential services to nuclear submarines and the support of nuclear facilities across the DRDL Nuclear Site and the MOD Authorised facilities. Author and control the master documentation for nuclear safety management arrangements on our site. Investigate and implement changes and improvements to the nuclear facilities and assets.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based at the Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth.

Essential experience of the Plant Engineer
Experience with governance of High Voltage equipment. Knowledge of the working practices within a high hazard industry, in particular electrical distribution. Be confident in using Microsoft office applications; Word, Excel, and Outlook. Have experience of scientific/engineering report writing. MAXIMO experience is advantageous.
Qualifications for the Plant Engineer
Level 4 STEM qualification with relevant experience
