While reporting to the Plant Manager the Plant Engineer II directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, equipment, buildings, grounds, and overall plant. Responsible for coordination of all contractor work that is done in reference to any of the items listed above. Individual is required to perform the following duties personally or through delegation.
What you’ll be doing:
Safety – promotes and evaluates workers in all known safe reliable methods such as the SafeStart Program, Lock/Tag/Try, Hot Work Program, Chemical Management, and Environmental issues.Reinforce Personal Safety daily to the team membersReview safety work order backlog daily and correct Safety deficiencies ASAPSupport and enforce company Safety Policies and proceduresSchedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.Coach and counsel maintenance staff to build and encourage members.Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.Reviews downtime histories daily – designs and implements repairs to prevent.Must be on call or have a delegate for 24-hour coverage when the machines are running in the event that a catastrophic failure happens to the machine. Supervisor or delegate is required to come in and correct the problem if the existing crew cannot do so in a minimum amount of time (1.5 hrs).Directs maintenance activities for utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, electric power, gas, or air required for operations. Tracks consumption and reports any major variances.Assures that entire team utilizes proper workmanship practices:Maintain a work order and inventory systemDevelops preventive maintenance program in conjunction with work order histories, maintenance staff, and production crew.Promotes neat and professional work utilizing all applicable codesWeekly:

Meet with management to analyze and adjust PM Program as needed to ensure continued uninterrupted operationsReviews production daily with the Plant Manager to cover any issues that may be causing Quality or Production Issues (Review with the General Manager in the absence of the individual listed above). Develop and administer a plan to correct any deficiencies.Housekeeping coach – coach maintenance team to score above and beyond the minimum goal set for the plant.Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, monitor andsupport team leaders.Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.Confers with management and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.Monitor & maintain a maintenance budget.Conform to PIE compliance as long as it does not impact the uptime of the machine or the maintenance budget.Prepare estimates for capital budgets and oversee installations.This position is located in Merced, CA.

Minimum of five (5) years practical experience in maintenance department.Minimum of five (5) years of proven maintenance management experience.Must possess electrical knowledge and experience in reading electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.Must be able to read diagrams and blue prints.Associates or Bachelor’s Degree is a positive.Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.Individual must possess the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.Must possess the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Must be familiar with Maintenance Management Systems, Word and Excel.Must be able to build graphs and charts to aid in the presentation of maintenance reportsAbility to define problems, conclude the facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variablesCompensation:
The annual base salary range for this role is from $98,000 to $110,250.
