(https://twitter.com/BerryGlobalInc) **Responsibilities** The **Plant Engineering Manager** will serve as a Front Line Leader (FLL) and needs to provide guidance to the plant within all safety regulations and quality standards; provide support for all integration equipment and services; to exhibit the highest standard of professionalism and a positive attitude while handling multiple tasks and priorities. + Reports directly to the Plant Manager + Provide support for all integration equipment and services, as well as assisting with development of new technology, or breakthroughs, on existing equipment + Maintains Project files on the specific drives, as required + Participates in developing and conducting Technical Training documentation, as well as approving competency for employees, specifically, Production & Maintenance personnel + Assist E H & S Manager with Risk Assessments and/or verification of appropriate Safety procedures for activities in the plant + Assists with the Management of Change (MOC), as needed, for projects + Maintains major equipment Master Data Sheets + Participates in new equipment design reviews, installations, qualifications, & start-ups, as required. + Using engineering principles, serves as a mentor & primary support for specific employees, with varying levels of knowledge, for the following type items: + Leads Root Cause / Corrective Action for major failures in plant support systems + Responsible for Facility Maintenance / Infrastructure / Technology upgrades + Acts as Plant Green Belt / CI Leader + Forms Teams / Charters for Continuous improvements + Completes Lean Savings Projects by using appropriate Lean Tools to identify Continuous Improvement opportunities in the areas of: + Safety + Quality + Productivity & Efficiency Improvements (EEF & MEEF) + Scrap reduction + Technology advancements in the Automation & Process Control areas + Spare parts inventory availability / replacement + Continue to advance personal technical knowledge through training & visiting other Berry & Customer plants + Complete special projects as required. + Perform all other duties as required. _FRONTLINE LEADER RESPONSIBILITIES_ + Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations. + Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk. + Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws + Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks. + Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.) + Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner. + Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible. + Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals. + Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed. _CONTRIBUTION TO SAFETY, QUALITY AND GMP_ + Maintain a clean, healthy and safe workplace by ensuring adherence to safety standards. + Conduct required safety reviews of equipment and processes prior to project start-up. + Support the accomplishment of your work groups through the quality, timeliness and professionalism of your attitude. + Supply accurate and timely data as required by performance tracking and reporting. + Apply resources in a manner that maximizes their effectiveness while assuring quality. + Maintain a work environment that will contribute to the assurance of safety and GMP compliance. + Adhere to established procedures, perform self-checking and pay attention to detail in the performance of you and your team’s work. + Notify management in a timely manner of any problems with procedural compliance. + Report observed quality problems and deficiencies in a timely manner. + Make recommendations to management for improving the quality and efficiency of your work. + Oversee work to ensure projects are completed. _COMPETENCY AND EXPECTATIONS_ + Safety Leadership – Embodies commitment for a safe workplace; acts as a role model. + Accountability – holds self-accountable evidenced by say/do ratio, initiative and ownership actions such as ensuring safety is more important than productivity). + Communication – ability to communicate safety, goals and company expectations with appropriate levels of the organization; create clear, timely audience appropriate messages (both written and verbal) + Engagement – communicate and support the vision of plant leadership; celebrate the wins and ensure employees actively participate in safety-related activities. + Team Development – understand the development needs of employees in your organization; drive the culture of employees as safety leaders; champion talent development from pre-hire to continuous learning. + People Agility – understand personal strengths and weaknesses; leads by example; promotes change through listening skills and seeking frequent input from employees; is genuine and approachable; firm but fair – consistent. + Problem Solving/Conflict Resolution – identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; mitigates relationship conflicts and encourages constructive (problem-solving) conflict. **Qualifications** + 4 Year Engineering Degree in an Engineering field year degree preferred + Minimum 3 years’ manufacturing experience.
