Plant & Field Operations Intern (Florence, SC)
Summary: The Plant and Field Operations Intern will support teams both in the field and plant as well as help with special projects, as needed. This role involves working closely with manufacturing and construction professionals supporting projects and day-to-day operations from planning through completion. Key responsibilities of the position will include project coordination, coordination in field and plant operations, site management, and site logistics, including safety protocols, quality control and scheduling.
Overview of Responsibilities:
Provides project assistance, supporting of plans and optimization of day-to-day functions and implementation of changes to enhance efficiencies and productivity. Participates in project meetings and contributes to project planning and execution.
Provides data management assistance, supports in managing databases and proprietary systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity through regular audits and checks. Documents processes and generates regular reports and presentations to present data insights on various metrics.
Provides support and assists team members with operational duties, including problem-solving, analyzing and resolving issues.
Provides support and responds to resolving customer issues and improving customer satisfaction.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical requirements: Involves sitting, standing and/or movement, the ability to exert minimal force of up to 25 pounds to carry, lift, push, pull and otherwise move objects and other physical requirements to perform the job. Must be able to wear PPE (safety glasses, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, and hardhat).
Required Education/Experience:
Must be at least 18-years of age.
Our Plant & Field Operations Internships are ideal for candidates pursuing a degree in Construction Management/Engineering, or similar field.
Our People & Culture Internships are ideal for candidates pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or similar field.
Must be enrolled in a University/College/Trade School at the time of application or must have graduated the semester immediately preceding the start of the internship.
Minimum of rising junior, rising seniors, and/or graduate students preferred.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at time of application or graduation preferred.
Required Knowledge/Skillsets:
Curious and coachable, personable, and patient, action-oriented and accountable.
Motivated and enthusiastic about doing great work.
Professional verbal and written communication skills.
Strong tech-savvy competency; experience with Excel and Microsoft Teams specifically.
Strong organization skills, self-motivation, and learning agility to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Bias for action and desire to make a meaningful difference alongside our current teammates.
Strong interest in the homebuilding, real estate, and/or construction industry as a preferred career field.
Added plus are students who are involved in extracurricular activities outside of their curriculum responsibilities (i.e., student organizations, leadership roles, student athletes, NAHB student competition, etc.).

In your 2025 internship role you will work alongside our experienced professionals and mirror that team’s schedule and flexibility models. Please read each role’s description and discuss with your hiring team to best understand the team’s expectations.

Internship Dates: May 19th, 2025 – August 8th, 2025 (12 weeks)
Schedule may be adjusted based on individual student need.40 hours per week; schedule depends on the internship position and its requirements.
Compensation: Pay $20/hour
Benefits: Temporary employees are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) Plan.
Format:
ICG’s Plant & Field Operations internships are primarily in-person and a combination of field, plant, and office work.
People & Culture internships are on-site, in office work with occasional plant and field visits.
Exact schedule will vary based on intern position and team; interns will mirror the schedule/format of their designated team.
Each intern will have the opportunity to shadow various functions that go into the homebuilding process. This will give you a holistic view and appreciation for the homebuilding industry and, who knows, may even spark an interest in an area you didn’t know existed!
Internships will include a capstone presentation or final project.
