MISSION / SUMMARY:

The Plant Manager is responsible for setting the strategy and overall orientation of the business unit and for the performance (financial and other key metrics) of the business unit. This is a management position leading and directing the management team in coordinating all activities related to management, sales, production, financials, logistics, human resources and quality. They understand and align business operations and he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.
 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

Coordinates and manages all business unit activities. Elaborate strategies and see to their setting-up to ensure the commercial development of its sector; mobilize employees around these. Maximize the return on assets of his/her sector of activities and rigorously manage operations costs and participate in the elaboration of each division’s budget. Elaborate the organization structure/chart; human resources, financial and material resources of the sector. Maintain an outstanding production capacity in terms of quality and efficiency in ensuring the follow-up of objectives (5S, GEMBA, SMED etc.…) put in place and give an appropriate feed-back to divisions. Ensure the technological development of products and processes while managing priorities with regard to investments, equipment’s, computer systems, etc. Know the business environment (network), the market (market trends in which we grow).  Know its competitors, customers and main suppliers to rapidly become a credible and respected player. Master the analyses of financial statements, such as income and expense statements, the balance sheet, the costing report, the cash-flow and efficiently utilize this information to optimize operations. Implement, maintain and/or develop company’s values to all personnel. Participate and support all Health and Safety programs, initiatives, and GMPs. Liaison with customers, suppliers, other internal and external business partners and other stakeholders. Manages and supervises employees under his/her responsibility. Participates in developing training programs for employees in his/her department and ensures the transfer of knowledge. Responsible and supports all Health and Safety, Food Safety programs, initiatives and GMP’s. Shares an obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork. Must adhere to Graphic Packaging International’s Commitment to SQF (Safe Quality Foods) and HACCP Requirements, Food Safety, and Food Defense, GMP and supports all Health and Safety programs. Other duties as assigned.

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

5-10 years management experience in a manufacturing environment

 

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:

Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Management preferred or; Compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree. Respects individuals, the organization, occupational health and safety, authority, and the team. Strong decision making skills Ability to motivate people. Good communication skills. Knows and able to adhere to company safety policies and government legislation (i.e. Occupational Health and Safety Act.)

 

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so. Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours. Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs. Reading computer screen or other electronic devices. Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
