Plant Manager
Job Description Ensures that all equipment, processes and methods meet or exceed environmental, health and safety standards. Promotes and ensures a safe work environment exists and rewards behaviors that contribute to a safety conscious culture. Shares leadership responsibility for the safety committee with the Plant Manager. Is responsible for corrective action of all Near Miss, Hazard ID and accident investigations. Ensures all associates attend monthly safety meetings on a pre-selected topic, and may lead some of those trainings. Ensures safety toolbox talks are provided on a weekly basis in accordance with expected standards. Ensures proper training of associates in accordance with training programs, to ensure the safety of the associates, the quality for the customer, and the productivity performance. Helps develop or improve training programs. 08/08/2018 Develops a succession plan for key roles and/or skills. Ensures operations execute in accordance with ISO standards. Responsible for ensuring product quality in production, striving to always "protect the brands". Using Six Sigma and Lean, identifies production problems that contribute to scrap and inefficiencies for operators and works with the team to resolve them. Identifies opportunities that lead to greater utilization of resources (human, capital and physical) and works with the appropriate teams to develop and implement these ideas. Works with Manufacturing Engineering and Process Engineering to safely and effectively implement new equipment or processes onto the production floor, including assuring proper safety and training plans have been executed. Ensures order fulfillment activities (logistics and production) meet or exceed customer expectations, including a focus on product quality that always strives for "protecting the brands". Leads the organization in promoting, training, and implementing continuous improvement/lean concepts. Recognizes improvement needs and leads and/or sponsors continuous improvement efforts throughout all manufacturing areas. Uses Lean and Six Sigma tools either by applying their use or through the contributions of team members. Develops and reports on associate and production metrics on quality and productivity and addresses areas of concern. Provides timely and effective performance feedback to the people that report to this position. Works with Product Manager by supporting changes to existing products and the creation and launch of new products. Assists Plant Manager with budget and equipment planning, capacity and utilization.
