Plant Manager

Job Description:

SUMMARY

The Plant Manager provides leadership in both day-to-day activities as well as long-term aspects required to oversee all production functions for the Vulcan Baltimore factory. This includes safety, production, process improvements, quality, and customer support activities. This role will oversee several elements of plant operations, such as production coordination, materials management, manufacturing engineering, safety, warehouse/inventory, distribution, and logistics/supply chain. Direct reports for this position include production supervisors, buyers, and technical and engineering support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Follow and execute ITW Enterprise Strategy, ITW Toolkit, Core Values, and Code of Conduct as a leader of the factory.Continue improvements in safety culture and increase ownership of the safety program to the operator level.  Focus on improving tracking and correcting of hazards, near misses, and reducing overall hazard opportunities in the facility.Develop, implement, and oversee manufacturing plans and strategies including capacity planning regarding equipment, training, staffing, raw materials, packaging, systems, and general operations improvements.Lead continuous improvement, cost savings, and ITW Toolbox initiatives to ensure the plant operates at optimal effectiveness and efficiency.Manage all personnel issues within the department, including such functions as staffing, compensation, behavioral issues, termination, transfer, and promotions. Manage, coach, and develop talent.Identifies, communicates, and drives implementation of capital investments and improvement projects.Monitor, report, and initiate action on results of efficiencies, quality, safety, delivery, and costs. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Hires and trains new employees.Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of assigned staff.Sets annual targets and conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.Manage relationship with union leadership and resolve disputes and grievances in accordance with the contractual bargaining agreement.

Education and Work Experience

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is required. 7+ years of related experience in manufacturing with preference shown to candidates with demonstrated progressive management experience.

Compensation: $111, 540 - $185, 900
