POSITION SUMMARY 

The Plant Operator position involves assisting with a variety of semi-skilled duties around production facilities. These duties include lubricating machinery, shovel spillage areas, monitor the plant conveyors, shakers, crushers, feeders, and pumps, and inspect plant daily. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES  

Proactive in SAFETY and works well in a team environmentOperate equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with training and manufacturer’s instructionAdhere to MSHA and plant safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulationsPerform pre-shift safety inspection on the systems, equipment and accessoriesPerform preventative maintenance and service equipmentInspect equipment and report needed repairs to supervisionAssist in plant maintenance and repairsResponsible for good housekeeping of plant and equipmentPerform duties with minimum supervisionAssist with operation of other equipment as needed   All other duties as assigned 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

High school diploma, GED or equivalent experienceIndustrial Plant/Quarry/Aggregate plant experience a plusExperience with a variety of hand tools 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES  

Must be able to work 12 hour shifts, possible weekends, overtime, and holidays as neededMust be able to read equipment operating manualMust be able to complete pre-shift inspection reportMust be able to read and interpret gaugesPossess basic mathematical aptitude to complete daily reportsMust be able to wear all required safety equipmentMust be able to communicate over CB radio or with hand signals and warning sounds, with coworkers regarding movement of vehicles and mobile equipmentMust be able to perform duties in a safe mannerMust be service oriented with proven ability to work in a TEAM environment 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots and hearing protectionMust be able to work at various heightsMust be able to climb stairs to a height of 100 ft. and work at this heightMust be able to climb on and off equipment to operate and serviceMust be able to bend, stoop, climb and reach around all areas of equipmentCapable of lifting and carrying up to 45 lbsMust be able to walk across steep/rough terrainAbility to use hand tools such as shovels, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.Ability to operate radio, CB radio, computer and other equipment as requiredMust have good hand/eye coordination and be able to operate hand/foot controlsMust work outside in all weather conditions consistent with extreme ambient temperatures: heat, cold, wetness, dryness, dust, and noisy conditions 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

There will be times when outside assignments may require periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry and dusty.  Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.
